Lusine has been one of my favourite producers for a long time. I'm just going back over some of his first releases on Ghostly International from the early 00's, and it's amazing how ahead of the game he's always been. His combination of delicate productions and beautiful warm analogue melodies, intricacies and amazing shuffling grooves have been a big inspiration for me over the years, with his "A certain distance" album from 2009 being one of my all-time most listened too albums.

So Lusine was one of my ideal remixers for the album, and thanks to Sean at Decibel festival, the hookup was made and he was into the idea. He's turned out a beautiful remix of Woven Ancestry, which if you've seen me play recently, you probably heard in my set. The mix has special balance of being a great piece of music to listen to at home, but then when it's unleashed in a club it's groove takes on a whole new life which I hadn't seen coming until I tried it out - Thanks Jeff!

ALEQS NOTAL / 1977  "Insideus" ep

DJ, producer and Rex Club resident Molly presents the third EP for her RDV Music imprint, drawing on talent from across her native France, featuring fellow Parisian Aleqs Notal (Clek Clek Boom, Sistrum) and 1977, as featured on Syncrophone's For Those Who Know imprint. While each side and artist offer their own distinctive flavour, percussive, classy late-night house music is the main course; ideal for late nights under dim red lights.

Aleqs Notal pays tribute to the timeless appeal of spinning analogue wax throughout opening track, ‘Sweet Rotation’; a simple hymn to the essence of house music, bubbling gently on bright keys and woozy basslines. ‘Hands On’ follows, offering a more nocturnal angle on this enduring aesthetic, reducing the energy but enhancing the atmosphere even further, both on-record and across any packed dancefloor.

The more Southern sensibility of 1977 brings drumwork to the fore, weaving an exotic, patient tapestry of bubbling, alluring synths and analogue feedback across two confident, percussive jams. While ‘Vodoom’ indulges in tension and intrigue, EP closer 'Jdlf' is pure, unwinding pleasure, across which each of 1977’s influences and instruments are offered freedom to breathe and evolve.

With this installment of emminently classy and supremely confident house, RDV Music continues to prove itself as one of the most worthy musical institutions on the contemporary Parisian scene.

S.Moreira’s remix draws upon the much-celebrated minimal aesthetic of his Slow Life peers, skilfully turning out a timeless house journey. Best enjoyed with attentive listening, this 8 minute production is house at its most functional, but also at its very best.

Seventeen years after it's first release, Delsin is soon to hit the landmark catalog number of 100. Truth is, taking into account choice re-issues and specials such as the recent house series, there have already been scores more than 100 releases. Nevertheless, in that time the Dutch label has become synonymous with a wide range of timeless sounds from house to techno to dub to electronica, nurturing and championing some of the most respect names in the scene.

To mark the occasion, the label is to release five new various artist EPs throughout the rest of the year. Besides a special collector's box edition, all EPs will be offered separately. All fifteen tracks will also be compiled onto one CD.

“After many different life cycles, with this compilation I try a bit to go back to the core of Delsin, to showcase more soulful but still raw techno sounds from a selection of key artists who best represent the label,” says label boss Marsel Delsin. “The tracks are all individual offerings but are tied together with the common themes of the label, and as a compilation will paint a nice overall picture.”

The five EPs will contain tracks from newbies and old favourites alike, including Sawlin and Delta Funktionen, John Beltran and Conforce, Redshape and Herva, Ross 154 and Mike Dehnert and more. The first – like all of them – features three tracks, one each from Gerry Read, Unbroken Dub and Claro Intelecto.

Its Manchester’s Claro Intelecto who goes first with 'Fighting The Blind Man', a typically widescreen and atmospheric cut with rich but grainy pads, warm techno pulses underneath and plenty of expertly design synths gurgling in the foreground.

New school house hero Gerry Read then offers a typically rough jam, 'Granny Bag'. A melange of sandy hits, smeared synths and hunched kick drums, it might be one of his deepest cuts yet before Siberian producer Unbroken Dub then layers warm pads on rolling, buried deep kick drums and has all sorts of analogue sci-fi lines racing across their face.

As has done Delsin itself over the years, this special series of releases looks to join the dots between the past, present and future of techno.
