Lofty Castle

The Bad Date is a project from me, Jeff. I've been writing songs and learning instruments my whole life, playing and singing in some bands in high school and continuing on afterwards mostly writing funny songs to amuse myself and friends before beginning to take music a bit more seriously especially after becoming a father. My influences come from a wide range my favorites include Weezer, The Beach Boys, The Ramones, The Misfits, Bad Religion, The Descendents, The Muffs, Steely Dan, Christopher Cross, ELO, Queen.

Composer/Songwriter. Proficient performer of piano, bass guitar, double bass, cello, 6 string , 12 string , drums, triangle (shall I include tambourine too?🤣), vocals, lyrics. 99% of the tracks on this page are original songs. None of my performances on any of my tracks, whether solo work, or collaboration, have any editing whatsoever. Effects and equalization? Of course! But no editing, no software, etc. Quite a substantial amount of these tracks are with The Eclectic Collective. We are like family and have been playing together on a daily basis since approximately March of 2022 as the Eclectic Collective. Before the band bore it's name Eclectic Collective; Josh, Ken, Stephen, Tez, and  CG Maness were doing some occasional collabs. At any given time we are all simultaneously working on about 15 different songs. And when we feel they are done cooking in the oven we release them.  We release a song every week on Fridays at 4AM UTC

Thank you very much to everyone who takes the time to listen, like and share my noises. I am extremely grateful. My apologies if I take a little while to respond to those that leave nice comments.

I like listening to music, making simple, tunes when I have time, and generally faffing about in an inefficient manner. Hopefully you might like something on offer here. 

I use a Hinkler Cigar Box guitar (about $30 from Aldi, great fun), a Flying V ukulele, a couple of old keyboards, other bits and bobs, and a Yamaha tenor saxophone.

I'm just an amateur.

I don't have the soul of a composer, arranger or creator... (or at least I've never tried).
I love music, I especially love to sing, I only perform and I only do covers.
I played guitar for over 10 years when I was young. I gave it up over 30 years ago...

I admire the talents of the artists on SC. You are incredible!

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs on 21 or 22 December, when the sun shines directly over the tropic of Capricorn.
