This satirical tune was written by Jef Lee Johnson with lyrics by Suzanne Cloud, who is singing it from the perspective of a clueless "smooth jazz" fan. On the cut is saxophonist Ben Schacter and drummer Jim Miller. Guitar and bass is by Jef. This song first appeared in 1996 on the CD "With a Little Help from my Friends" on the Dreambox label and was recently reissued in the Fall of 2014. Written by Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne, this tune had incredible meaning for me when I saw the incredible Mary Martin in the TV presentation of "Peter Pan." I was jumping off our living room couch for weeks. Played sensitively by everyone - pianist Jim Ridl, bassist Darryl Hall, Denis DiBlasio on alto and Jim Miller on drums - and we killed it in one take.  Arrangement by Denis DiBlasio!
