Almost one whole year has passed since the foundation of katharsis was laid down with the launching of the label by the release of the three elemental compilations, The Flow of Water, The Burn of Fire, and The Breath of Air. Since then, seven different artists have put out EPs, albums and even a cassette tape on katharsis, yielding a total of 10 releases through this first year of existence. 

The vision of the label was to show the world how music is our best tool to process moods, thoughts and emotions by self-therapeutic involvement with the arts, which the artists have truly realized for the label by sending us incredibly stellar music to release throughout the year. The support from the community has been overwhelming, and we feel it is time for us to give something back to you. 

Therefore, we have scanned thoroughly through our discography to chop and collect small snippets of sounds, compiling a sample pack of ready-to-use .wav-files for your DAW of preference. This simultaneously reflects the aim and philosophy of katharsis, to enable and accommodate all people in their potential for making art and to break down the boundaries of creativity resulting from our copyright infringed society. Go ahead and use the samples in your productions, we are already excited to hear what will come out of it.

As a demonstration of the contents of the sample pack and its creative abilities, label founder jjjacob have put together a track only using sound material from the sample pack. The result is a ethereal landscape sequenced from the extracted emotional core of the katharsis discography, that will hopefully inspire you to take the samples in use!

With Assembler, his second full-length album, Yen Tech re emerges in ecstatic and primordial new form -- a multi-layered and interwoven work that blends futuristic production, meta-science fiction, and anthropic critique into a dizzying array of next scenarios -- a maze-like vision of our technological and exponentially oracular, full-stack future.

This imagined future becomes a construct or place in itself; one in which the record buzzes and swarms; a mechanosphere of towering melodic vocal samples and sound design - all narrated by Yen Tech's unnerving, diaristic vocals - as he channels the form of post-human techno cretin, whispering hyperbolic ASMR to no one in particular. We follow this character from one disorienting experience to the next as he recites a stream of indecipherable neologisms and hyper-descriptives, the existential residue seeping from every line. In the end though, a strange, uneasy beauty comes into focus; the metamorphic lyrics and musical euphorias revealing Assembler as a type of elegy: a wet glass reflection of the failures of what we are and were - and a jubilant celebration of what we may become.

"I imagined Assembler as a type of self imposed simulation, an invisible boundary that the narrator has to navigate out of to move forward. It was a way of looking at how we may carry the issues and failures of the past with us into the future. The psychological baggage of history, the guilt of geotrauma, the addictive melange of technology all become dealt with in this stage of acceptance and recovery. I wrote the album with this in mind, a process to find the slimy pearl of who we are" - Yen Tech

World Canvas is proud to present the latest work of Ostrava based artist Strachkvas (Metoděj Motýl). 
Known as an active contributor of the Czech collective Gin&Platonic, their previous musical practice has navigated a triptych of abrasive club music songs, as showcased on their last year’s release ‘Break-in’.
Their new piece of music at hand, ’Blind Worm Variations’ is a display of evolving compositions which travel seamlessly within a world of ethereal ambiences & disjointed club music fragments, reminiscent of a space that once was but the memory of it still remains.
Over the course of it’s three songs, ’Blind Worm Variations' creates a world of elegance and beauty which is as eerie as it is captivating, calling and mysterious.

CLMxGUN is happy to present Chain of Whispers, a two-fold EP exploring further collaborative production processes. Like a murmur in the wind, a secret being delivered from ear to ear, it is born from a playful approach to sound manipulation and its transformation when passed from one hand to another. An embodiment of how music can be altered by each and every contribution.

Through a defined set of constraints based on the Telephone game, the concept is simple : each successive track is a remix of the previous one, and the contributors could not hear what was done before them. So on and so forth. A continuous cycle of appropriation and re-interpretation.

From this experiment resulted two 7-track EPs, two chains which gathered 11 artists, each with their own identity and their own input. With each new link in the chain, the sound mutates, speeds up or slows down - some of its elements are exacerbated, while others are concealed or juxtaposed to new ones.

The second chain welcomes 71W3, GRIG, jjjacob, Lithe, Lukann, and SNKLS. Covering a broad spectrum of sounds, it moves back and forth between heavy club material and ethereal soundscapes, finding peace and closure in this constant state of unrest.
