a peek outside the window.
Blackness enveloping, a soft pillow,
strewn with flickers of light.

Transit, going places, almost metaphoric for the way Junkie Digital has developed his art via a string of releases on Dream Machine since 2020. Five long tracks adding up to mini album length plunge the listener into the dark corners of electronica, where melodies are rare, rhythms slow and heavy and the sounds forcefully clear.

Italian producer Is:End started out in 2013 with a contribution to a NOISJ remix contest – from there his artistic endeavours lead to a string of releases on respected labels and his becoming CEO of the respected doomcore/darkcore outlet Dark Impact Records. So this is a homecoming EP, three chips off the same block, raw and relentless rhythmic noise tracks with a deep bass thump below, truly industrial and truly living up to its sinister subject matter.

Just eight tracks by only six different producers, and yet bridging the huge gap between Silent Humanity’s dark acid and his own terror sound as Darkinox, from the archetypal crossbreed of Mechanik to the scandalous gabber of Crime1Minister. To make things even weirder, you have Extreme is Everything mastermind Machinist with a soundscape truly putting the noise into NOISJ, Phorecite Black being as inimitable as ever and not one, but two tracks by Canada’s finest Razor Edge, who is definitely not known to give the slightest about your preconceptions. If you can handle the outrageousness of this endeavour, we grant you asylum!
