For this edition of Roy Street Beats I chose to dig back in the vault with this mix. I wanted to try something a little different yet still true to the Svenchen sound and somehow felt it becoming of the start of a new year. I remember always having a soft spot for the squelchy 303 synth and wanted to pay homage by selecting some of my favorite acid tracks. It's a random smattering of sounds and vibes and full of ups & downs (so you can remember what last year felt like) all the way from from melodic to bangin'. For this edition of Roy Street Beats I wanted to show off a bit more of the typical Svenchen style - a little techy and a little deep. I recorded this set towards the beginning of the year when I was getting into my winter tech rut (a lack of sun will do that to you) and probably still reeling from the realization that I have several dope clubs/venues within walking distance from my place. I used some of my tech house favorites as well as some fresher deep tech tunes for a fun, dancey vibe to try and mimic those feelings. For this edition of Roy Street Beats I'm back to digging up some of my oldies (but goodies) and wanted to dust off and showcase this mix from last February. Perhaps it's just a reflective time of year but after looking back at 2017 and looking forward to what's to come in 2018, I feel like this set still resonates well with my emotions as of late. I chose to show off the deeper side of Svenchen and used primarily housey tracks with a deep, techy sound to give off a kind of pensive and playful vibe. For the inaugural mix of Roy Street Beats I really wanted to showcase something fitting of my current state of mind. I've got a backlog of unreleased mixes from throughout the year but felt this was the perfect set for the occasion. Inspired by the PNW's cold and dreary weather, I sought to capture the feeling of being chilled to the bone when the sun peeks out from behind the clouds to greet you warmly and give you a bit of hope that summer's sunny days are not so far away. I dug out my proggy tunes of yesteryear as well as some of my Scandinavian favorites to try and epitomize that vibe. For this edition of Roy Street Beats I decided to bust out the fresh stuff and release my latest recording. It was inspired by my good mate @Ject's most recent mix. I felt the sound and vibe resonated so well with me that I took it as a kind of "sonic calling" and wanted to craft a response of sorts. In keeping with that theme, I included a nice mix of minimal/dub tracks as well as a few with a deeper, tech feeling to them that I think compliment his set well.
