Grand Tapestry presents 5 remixes of their Tides album coming out October 21st. Merging hip-hop with classical Indian music, Grand Tapestry bridges that gap featuring Eligh, an independent hip-hop artist known for genre experimentation, and Alam Khan on the 25-stringed fretless instrument called the Sarode, and their diverse collective of collaborators. Tides heavily features traditional Indian instruments fused with Eligh’s distinctive hip-hop sound, creating a dynamic blend of cultures. Now, remixes from Savej, MORiLLO, Lil Fish, Balkan Bump, and Drishti Beats introduce their personal flairs and influence to the sacred, conscious beats.

Savej brings a tropical bass flair to “Seagulls” through organic sounds produced with a variety of instruments like the handpan and while MORiLLO combines passionate lyrics & lively beats in an organic reimagining of “Believe”. MORiLLO’s combination of drum work and production brings a primal flair to each of his projects, making it a truly unique listening experience. Lil Fish remixes “Radiant” with grimey bass reverbs and drops, turning the already hip-hop inspired track into a bass infused wavy illumination. Balkan Bump infuses a summery flare with heavy bass lines and affluent riffs in his “Youth” remix. Ethno and Drishti Beats embrace and add extra flair to the original violin and santoor in their remix of “Seagulls”. Adding in downtempo beats and emotional guitar plucks, the pair round out the remixes of this boundary pushing album.

@gonima has been on the SVNSET WAVES radar for 6 years now, so it is a true, true honor to finally present his new EP, Strands, with you all. The EP features four gorgeously intricate new original tracks from the Montreal-based producer, each fizzling and dissolving into a mesmerizingly complex yet comforting world. I can only imagine that this is what a computer's daydreams might sound like.
In addition to the four original tracks, each song has a coinciding remix. From @heoliene's hypnotizingly clicky minimalism, to @brakence's super-textural glitch pop, @jimkimchi's vast hyper-IDM complexion, and Permutia's (@fltx & @m_y_s_e_l_f) goofy illbient banger this EP truly has something in it for all the glitch heads.
In addition to its digital release, a limited edition cassette will also accompany the release. Be sure to stream the album, support the artists, and pick up a tape. Huge thanks to gonima for making this absolute treasure of a release and being patient through the tedious process, all of the remixers, who gave their beautiful minds and perspectives on these tracks, Jesse Osborne-Lanthier for the perfect artwork, and all of the listeners who chose to make memories with these songs. El álbum Basquade, así titulado, significa “levántate” en la lengua extinta Charrúa y está dividido por episodios que cuentan una sola historia, comenzando con una pista cinemática donde el oyente se sumerge en un entorno selvático para dar preámbulo a lo que serán casi 40 minutos continuos de techno tribal con atmósferas místicas y orgánicas.

Historia:
El álbum nos relata una historia donde la jungla como representación de la naturaleza es asediada por el desmedido afán de progreso debiendo librarse del ataque mediante sus propios medios, así es como el llamado de Basquade (levántate) nos hace a todos partícipes y responsables de actuar en su defensa, esta es una analogía de ficción al hecho real de que todos deberíamos tomar conciencia y acción de la destrucción a la que contribuimos diariamente.

Cada track tiene un significado, por ejemplo Vanati Beada-o significa hijos de la madre tierra en Chaná, Is me da ti geppian significa tú quieres sembrar y Basquade significa levántate en Charrúa, el track Integrity contiene una entrevista a una mujer que pelea hace 15 años defendiendo las tierras Mapuches y Fear In The Jungle es una alusión al clima de tensión de la selva siendo atacada por la mano del hombre.  

Concepto:
La intención de este lanzamiento es acercarle a la escena techno una temática fuera del entorno club enmarcada en un contexto más humano y espiritual, haciendo mención de lenguas nativas americanas, luchas indígenas en defensa de la tierra y la lastimosamente infame destrucción de la biodiversidad.

A pesar de la seria temática que contempla, Basquade es un álbum muy agradable de escuchar, con un espíritu inspirador y fresco, con pasajes que van desde lo emocional y reflexivo a lo rítmico y bailable.

En conclusión, Basquade es un álbum con una estética Techno cinemática que a través de su concepto narrativo intenta promover conciencia medioambiental y la participación de la escena Techno en dicha temática.

*El dinero de las ventas será donado a la organización Amazon Watch dedicados a la protección de la Amazonia y a las comunidades indígenas vinculadas a ella.

El concepto del álbum está enfocado en ello.
