Saint Petersburg, Russia based producer and Translation veteran Nuage returns to the catalog with the "So Long" EP, showcasing his signature fusion of warm, organic-acoustic sounds with synthetic-electronic textures in new territories from house to the experimental 170 BPM realm. Up first is "Last Seen," whose vivid atmospherics offer a beautiful introductory backdrop to the track's garage-style shuffle and bass. Next, Nuage turns up the tempo and goes four-to-the-floor on "Compared" and "Unexperience," featuring vocals by Ellie, to demonstrate his new affinity for house music. He comes back full-circle to 170 BPM, injecting fresh influences into the experimental "So Long," whose cascading piano keys sweep across eclectic drum programming and a low-rumbling bass wall resulting in soulful waves of sonic bliss. Nuage's expansion into new genres on the "So Long" EP demonstrates his artistic growth and musical versatility, as well as a glimpse of things to come on his forthcoming album on Translation Recordings, "Prints of You."

The original version of the track was recorded in Marfa, TX, before the band commenced official tracking for 'Shields' in Cape Cod and New York, and was released earlier this month on 'Shields Expanded' and 'Shields B-Sides.' The collections build on their acclaimed 2012 iTunes Album of the Year with exclusive b-sides, demos, and remixes.

'Shields' was released to some of 2012's best reviews, with Pitchfork calling it "magnificently epic" and the NY Times hailing it as "enthralling." The band performed tracks from the album on Colbert, Fallon, Letterman, Leno, Austin City Limits, and Ellen, and played their biggest headlining and international festival shows to date.

I wanted each track to collectively narrate The Meaning and tell a story. I envisioned the titles of the tracks and the emotions expressed through the vocals in the tracks, coming together to form the message of the album + I pictured the music painting the feeling of that message. The message being that we all have our own meaning in life, and its really just about finding it and embracing it. We might struggle in the search for what it is, and sometimes even fail to acknowledge it when its there, but ultimately the aspiration is to pursue that which makes us happy and do what we love. That's my message with this release.
