Binaural recordings of sheep from the Fagermyr ranch in Oppdal, Norway, summer 2011.Bææææææææ!!!  The sheep are of the ancient Norwegian variety, they kind of look like a cross between goats and sheep.  On these recordings you can hear sheep being fed, sheep being herded, sheep running, sheep just chillin out in the woods, and of course some birds, sounds from cabin people in the distance, machines passing by, and just a tiny bit of human voice from me and members of my family.The recordings are basically unprocessed.


Sheep Shots

Some binaural recordings from the time I went on holiday to Tokyo.  I stayed in Sangubashi from the 15th of December 2013 until the 14th of January 2014.   Recordings mostly done in and around Sangubashi, Yoyogi, Ueno, Meguro, and Shinjuki.  Recorded with DIY binaural mics and a Sony PCM-D50 sound recorder.

Binaural documentation from the installation "Der ingen skulle tru at nokon kunne boote..." by artists Audun Eriksen and Arnfinn Killingtveit, shown at Gråmølna kunstmuseum in Trondheim as part of the Meta.morf biennale for art and technologi during May 2014, arranged by Trondheim Elektroniske Kunstsenter - TEKS.  The project is a recycled art project utilizing around 60 old computers, previously running the obsolete windows XP OS, now installed with Linux.  The computers are each running a Pure Data patch that gives them a form of crude sonic behaviour.  By listening to the sounds in the room, the computers searches for sustained recognizable notes, and upon hearing them, replies with their own bootylicious sounds, based upon the tone and the time intervals of the percieved sounds.  The screens also light up to illustrate when a computer is singing.  The computers can thus be interacted with acoustically by the audience.  They also just start to sing with eachother from time to time if left alone.  Upon the completion of the project, computers will be donated  to the public.

The recording was done with in-ear DIY binaural microphones and a Sony PCM-D50 sound recorder.

Had a walk along Ladestien in Trondheim, 11. December 2011, around noonish.  Recorded some binaural shots by the shore.  Just some relaxing winter ambience featuring the type of sounds you migth encounter in this area, like waves, birds, boats, planes, puny human hikers, and such.  Recorded with some DIY binaural microphones I made myself hooked up to my portable recorder.

Documentation from the concert Swamps Up Nostrils and Ada Mathea Hoel played at Klubb Kanin 17.02.17, at Trondheim Kunstforening in Trondheim.  The recording was made with my old Sony PCM-D50, using it´s native microphones.  Was ment to tap the mixer, but something happened, as usual, so we only got the room recording.

Brought my recorder and my "loose fit" set of DIY binaural binaural mikes when I went out cross-country skiing in Trondheim this afternoon.The sounds were recorded around the light slopes going to and from the parking lot at Bekken, Estendstadmarka.On this track you get the genuine experience of actually cross country skiing in Estendstadmarka, with real life encounters with other skiers and all that!

Brought my recorder and my "loose fit" set of DIY binaural binaural mikes when I went out cross-country skiing in Trondheim this afternoon.The sounds were recorded around the light slopes going to and from the parking lot at Bekken, Estendstadmarka.This track have got some dudes talking about the hows and whats of cross-country skiing, while someone else is also doing some lessons in the background.Then they meet some friends that also are out skiing.Then they move along.Then some other skiers pass by.

Brought my recorder and my "loose fit" set of DIY binaural mikes when I went out cross-country skiing in Trondheim this afternoon.  The sounds were recorded around the light slopes going to and from the parking lot at Bekken, Estendstadmarka.  On this first track of six one can hear the crackling drone from some electrical power that crossed the ski slope.  In the background there is a hum from some machines in the city.  Also, some skiers pass by.

Swamps Up Nostrils - 21 - More rain.  And one more thunder

Metaverk was a collaborative sound installation created by Arnfinn Killingtveit and Øyvind Brandtsegg, as a special opening project for Trondheim Electronic Arts Center´s new gallery space at Nedre Bakklandet 20C in Trondheim, and part of the program of the art festival Trondheim Open 2018.  The project was curated by Espen Gangvik.  It was shown from 1. November to 11. November.  The work activated the room by utilizing several computers, microphones, speakers and transducers.  Some of the computers were independent sound entities listening to their environment and responding in their own way, either directly or through abstracted memories of events passed, others were directly connected to interactive stations in the room, like furniture and windows with contact microphones that the audience could interact with and thus in a direct fashion play the room like an instrument.  The roof and windows were also rigged with transducers, making these parts also function as speakers.  The resulting expression was on of an everchanging generative soundscape.  Anything happening, or not happening, in the space, affected how the composition developed.

Metaverk

One hour of my computer making generative minimalistic bleeps and blops and pling plong without any progression of any sort and not much else going on, recorded live from a Pure Data patch in progress.  Another exploration in artificial stupidity and meaningless sonic behaviour.  The generative score is created by the computer listening to it´s nearby sonic environment(whatever is picked up by the microphones).  The score is then interpreted and transmuted into sound with the help of some simple oscillators and filters.

This EP is made out of samples from a probabilistic drum and bass machine reworked togheter with drones, generative synths, custom samplers, all made in Pure Data, then assembled in a multi track software of choise.

Swamps Up Nostrils - 01 - Mandag

This track is a reconstruction of some sounds sent to me by Steinar Stensen during the Corona pandemic.  In addition to using Steinar´s files, I got some local cranes to lay down some vocals for the track.  The cranes, Tranhild and Tranulf, were recorded in April 2020, at their easter hangout at Gaustadvatnet, a small lake in the village of Korsveien, Melhus, Norway.
