The Ballad of the Dodson Drifters

Suicide has affected us all in some way or another. Many of those close to me have lost someone close to them in this way, and I see and feel their pain. Being left with unanswered questions, unfulfilled wishes and (perhaps) regrets can make the grieving process even more complicated. I wanted to express these feelings musically and lyrically. My heart goes out to all those affected by suicide.

This Is Transient

This jokey song came out in like 2 min, when I sat down to write it ~10 years ago. A friend just reminded me of it tonight, so I decided to post it here. At the time I was trying really hard to let go of preciousness in songwriting...hence, this. 

The song doesn't mean anything. The inside joke is between my dear friends and bandmates in Swansea - Ji (the drummer) hates the name 'Craig' with a passion, Rebecca (the singer/keyboardist) cannot properly pronounce the word 'burger' (it sounds something like "beuhrrrrgeuhrrr"), and I (the bassist) cannot properly pronounce the word 'ruined' (it sounds something like "rueweeend").

Enjoy this "iPhone perched upon a keyboard" recording of a weird, pointless song. :)

The recording of the Dalai Lama singing this ancient mantra "Maha Mrityunjaya" of the Rig Veda was taken with the permission of the Dalai Lama to one of his students. At first he refused, but then he agreed, but said the mantra should never be sold, but must be passed in vain. If you would like to share this with others, please continue to include this note.
