On September 1, 2015, Philos Records will release The Darkness Before Dawn, the latest LP from hiphop/electro producer Daily Bread – his first album since 2014’s debut Out There, which EDMsauce.com declared “an incredible, groovy LP that soothes your soul” and Net Frequency TV explained “oozes of positive energy and good vibes that will put a smile on your face from beginning to end”.

Produced and arranged solely by record collector and beatsmith, Rhett Whatley, The Darkness Before Dawn was recorded in Atlanta over the cold, wet winter and spring of 2014/15. This project features some of Daily Bread’s darkest material.

“I was really focused on bringing some of the sadder, depression-dripped tones out of my record collection with this LP” Whatley explains. The songs tell tales of love lost, never-ending rain storms, late night encounters, and restless minds. I really made something that has a lot of life in it.”

Daily Bread - Life Goes On [The Darkness Before Dawn LP out 9/1 via Philos Records]

The Astrioasia Crown & The Dusty Apsara Breaks is an instrumental album rooted primarily in Cambodian musical heritage, shaped through a modern, global lens.
As a Cambodian artist, this project is a personal fusion of ancestral sound, lived identity, and contemporary production.

Traditional Cambodian melodic sensibilities — echoing instruments such as the khim, roneat-inspired textures, and flute-like motifs — are blended with dusty rhythms, deep bass foundations, and Western-influenced beat culture. The result is a soundscape that feels ceremonial yet street-level, ancient yet current.

The album draws inspiration from Apsara symbolism, royal and spiritual imagery, and the quiet strength of Cambodian culture, while openly embracing influences from other parts of the world. Rather than imitation, this is interpretation — honoring roots while allowing them to evolve.

Production-wise, the focus remains on space, clarity, and mood. Minimal arrangements, steady mid-tempo grooves, and atmospheric reverbs create a hypnotic continuity across the project, making it ideal for immersive listening, visual storytelling, and cinematic contexts.

The Astrioasia Crown & The Dusty Apsara Breaks stands as a cultural bridge — Cambodian at its core, global in its expression.
