With an early passion for music and a musicology minor degree, IBK started experimenting with music production software and apps as early as 2008. After picking up basic music production skills, in May 2020, he upgraded to more sophisticated systems that kickstarted the discovery of his untapped gift for lyrical composition and flow. He has been interviewed by BuzzMusic LA for his smooth R&B single, "Coz I'm Yours," and has gained positive reviews from major independent artist blogs such as A&R Factory for his "deeply poetic" single, "These Tears." In early 2021, IBK began working on a self-produced EP titled, "The Outsider," in which he narrates his struggles since losing a budding medical career to immigration challenges in the United States. 

Describing his musical style as highly eclectic, IBK has been heavily influenced by his Nigerian culture, classical music training in voice and piano, as well as several popular musical artists. In keeping with his African roots, rhythm is central to his musical style, with afrobeat favorites such as Fela Anikulapo Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Lagbaja, D’banj, Wizkid, and Davido having significant impact on him. Major North American influences include Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, JAY-Z, and The Weeknd.
