The second solo record by Mike Polizze of Philadelphia psych-squallers Purling Hiss and Birds of Maya, a rainier and more pensive affair than its predecessor—despite its playful humor and plentiful hooks—affirms his status as a consummate (and now not-so-secret) craftsman of instantly memorable bucolic odes of languid beauty, deepening his fingerstyle acoustic guitar magic and finally manifesting the title of the classic Hiss anthem “Run from the City.”

This is an ATTEMPTED compendium of all the covers Alex Chilton recorded and released from 'Like Flies on Sherbert' onwards- there are a few editorial and logistical omissions. Tried to not double dip but Allan Page's A and B sides are two good not to include (released and produced by legendary Memphian Cordell Jackson.) TBH as I edited this down it just reminds me of a pretty tricked out and iconoclastic oldies radio station late at night-which I am sure Alex and the oceanic jukebox of his mind would approve of.
