John Monkman returns to Ellum Audio with a pair of well-crafted cosmic techno tracks.

London-based John Monkman is the founder of Beesemyer Music but also serves up his rich sounds on Kompakt, Last Night On Earth and Drumcode. He works across multiple styles and as much as making music for the club, he also cooks up richly atmospheric and emotive music. He has worked with Pete Tong, Bryan Ferry and Nile Rodgers and when on tour, he plays live in the world's best venues.
First up is the immediately arresting 'Perception' with its flashes of synth, whirring drones and textured drums. Spoken words bring a sense of paranoia as twitchy effects, icy percussion and swinging drums all work you into a frenzy. Monkman took inspiration from a Timothy Leary interview for the record envisioning “a phrase repeating with a synthesizer response, in essence a conversation between man & machine”.

Second cut 'Impulse' is a more groove-driven tune with kicks that rock back and forth under slapping hits. The synth designs are futuristic and the whole vibe is one of intergalactic exploration of the unknown.
Both of these hugely accomplished tracks will bring a scene of cinematic drama to any set.

DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique label returns with more of the good stuff, with a great EP from Antrim & Some Litlle Things.

The title track 'Just So You Know' opens proceedings and sets the tone off wonderfully, with its deep hypnotic vibes, and plenty of underlying depth and drive.

Ran Salman steps up on remix duties, and delivers a fine chunky bubbling peak time rework, full of energy and intricate tweaks and twists.

Head honcho DJ Zombi's interpretation is a throbbing and charismatic retouch, with its brooding bass and powerful tones.

Rounding things off nicely, we find Some Little Things Space Mix, given the package a different flavour, with its groove and swagger, while retaining the originals elements nicely.

'WEITER proudly presents "Blindness" produced by Dutch rising star Mitch de Klein, including remixes from Axel Haube and Lake Avalon.

Mitch de Klein (Filth on Acid, ELEVATE,) has been a personal favorite of label boss Olivier Weiter for a while now. Needless to say, we are more than happy to finally share this EP with you.

Both tracks combine floating, melodic elements with driving, energetic grooves. While the underlying saw synth sounds provide just that little bit of extra filth in both productions - the melancholic vibe is still kept intact. While “Trial and Error” works for those peak-time moments, “Blindness” is a bit more subtle but definitely no less striking - both tracks are powerful dance floor weapons!

The beast from Belgium aka Axel Haube (Atmosphere Records, Infinite Depth, WEITER) has tackled "Blindness" in its own way - Haube style. Straight forward, no mercy. Full of energy, hypnotic and stripped down to a serious club banger - which of course also works perfect when played out loud during a living room session.

Lake Avalon (KATERMUKKE, Stil vor Talent) also debuts on the label with his version of "Trial and Error". A warm, compelling remix with surprising elements and drum rhythms, loaded with Lake Avalon’s signature sounds. Tending to head more to the progressive spectrum of house - he completes this EP in a wonderful way. The icing on the cake!'
