Alex Niggemann’s AEON label mirrors the peak time DJs sets that the supremely talented Berliner plays, staying focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless house and techno, updating it and creating new boundless possibilities for the future. Since launching the label in 2013 Alex has been gradually building a family of like-minded creative individuals to keep the AEON ethos moving ever forward.
This time it’s AEON 19, and yet another melodic milestone in which Niggemann welcomes back Denis Horvat to lead us on a journey into the territory of ambient, driving techno. Achiev- ing two original tracks, and a remix to suite his ever-growing trademark of deep, melodic sounds, Denis again showcases the true quality of what Alex’s label stands for.
‘Apart’ is a dark and eerie track that combines pulsing me- lodic synths with a dissonant array of percussion and FX. The track forever progresses, winding its way upward and downward throughout, with a defining change in atmospher- ics halfway through his electronic industrial fused journey.
Along with the original by Denis, Hyenah gives us his own spin on the dark fused sounds of Niggemann’s imprint.
Whilst following a similar driving, moody groove, he welcomes a fresh element of tribal grooves, along with a lighter array of pads and stabs that gives listeners a whole new approach to that of the original mix.
As with previous releases, it is customary with AEON releas- es, that the B-Side, in this case ‘Cougar’, takes things into deeper territory, with a rolling bass line and a deep percussive groove. Accompanied by sharp white syncopated hats, and a mesmerizing arpreggiated synth, this track certainly main- tains to build on the foundation in which Denis strives to work towards with his style and sound.

Mallone crawls back into the darkest crevices of techno with his reconstruction of Nick Devon's 'Skyline' and David Granha's 'Aria'. Steyoyoke Black Reconstructed by Mallone envelopes you in wave upon wave of surreptitious melodies, rhythms, and sounds. Headed down a deceivingly up-beat path, make no mistake that Mallone will take you to the most covert corners of music. 

Compared to Nick Devon's original creation 'Skyline', a romance between the haunting nature of the melody and the minimalistic structure, Mallone's City Light remix extends the mystical elements further into a starry dimension. Using complimentary resonance, Mallone's remix reiterates it's uniqueness through it's memorable composition. 

Mallone stripped down David Granha's 'Aria' only to reconstruct it using thicker, wetter sounds to achieve a sultry, chunky aural dynamic with his 'Re-enactment'. Mallone's fast- paced take on 'Aria' is a manifestation of mystery coupled with supersonic ethereal undertones. The obscurity of this track truly lies in Mallone's ability to reconstruct a vocal- heavy original and transform it into a masterpiece which has a harmonious centre-point, where all sounds blend beautifully. 

Mallone is no newcomer to the Steyoyoke family with heart-wrenching productions, Mallone solidifies his rightful place amongst the greats with this latest EP filled with reconstructions. A form of appreciation for Nick Devon and David Granha, Mallone puts an emotive twist on this elegant reconstruction EP.

About the EP :
Giorgia Angiuli, the globetrotting Italian, who has previously released on labels including Stil Vor Talent, Kindisch and Suara, is known for her innovative and outstanding live sets and her skills as a mutli-instrumentalist. 

The title track, for which the famous Eugenia Barone contributed the double bass, is backed with a remix from label boss Marc Romboy. Both have a slightly progressive air with Romboy adding some percussive drive and more presence in the main synth line. 

Giorgia's second original, Royal Breath, takes us deeper with its playful vocal cuts and mighty bassline whereas Multiverso, the fourth and final track, spreads a darker atmosphere with spacey vocal layers and synth sequences.

Swedish producer Rasmus Faber released his story-telling record ‘Two left Feet’ featuring Öhrn in summer 2019, as part of stunning ten-track album bearing the same name. Rasmus, known for his exquisite production skills, ensures each performance is organic, memorable and raw with live instrumentation. Now Defected presents a remix package for this remarkably chilled record, kicking things off with the Moon Rocket Remix, featuring tension-building drops and captivating drums throughout. Up next, is underground Swiss DJ and Defected regular Dario D’Attis' remix, bringing a bouncy and energetic vibe while keeping the relaxed vocal to off-set tougher elements of the track. Lastly Girls Of The Internet spin an enchanting mix, Frida Öhrn’s magnetic vocal remaining prominent throughout in this peacefully crafted version.
