Continuing to build a bond with the label, Ruben Karapetyan returns to Movement Recordings for a new EP entitled Never Again'. The Armenia born; USA based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in November of last year. Following a ten-year hiatus, Ruben's Movement debut Gignesthai' delighted progressive house fans with its combination of musicality and groove. Building on the success of his return, February of 2021 then saw Ruben unveil an equally well received follow-up Hathor', before branching out to Lowbit Records with the release of Karo'. Now following a powerful remix for LADS, Ruben returns to his comfortable home of Movement Recordings with a new artist EP, alongside remixes from Fuenka and Kamilo Sanclemente.

Continuing to operate at a creative peak, Ruben aims squarely for a main room dance floor with Never Again'. Anchored by a warm, rippling groove and layers of effervescent percussion, the energy is palpable from the outset. Ghostly vocal phrasing and sweeping stabs incite dynamic moments early on, as wispy effects and churning acid lines add depth and a rare ravey tension. Carrying into the main break, the vocal further saturates your senses, set against an emotive, key changing backdrop, elevating mood as a timely drum roll launches you into euphoria's top floor. The companion piece Ambrosia' follows suit with an equally impressive display of musicality and groove. Electric and energetic from the outset Ruben crafts a cross cultural progressive banger that's bound for dance floor destruction. Punchy beats, machine gun grooves and firing percussion lay the foundation for devilish stabs and ethnic vocals to work their magic. Senses heighten as the main break takes shape, with rolling percussion eventually revealing a perfect marriage of transcendent vocals and soulful instrumentation, which carry on wards into a spiritual finale.

The lone interpretation of Never Again' is provided by Fuenka who make their label debut. Based in London, Stuart Browne and Jimmy Lee make up the Fuenka production duo. Their unique take on progressive trance has found favour with some of the world's most prominent tastemakers in Above and Beyond, Aly and Fila and John OO Fleming; while landing them releases on FSOE, JOOF Recordings, Siona Records and UV. Now making their first appearance on Movement Recordings, the duo provides an inspired take on Never Again'. Remarkably fluid and undeniably modern, it's a mix that stays true to the electric themes from the original, while adding greater emotional depth along the journey. Reprocessed vocals sit as one of the primary themes, coming to full fruition during the main break and perfectly setting up a shapeshifting, musically inspired bridge which ultimately propels the track to a hands in the air finale.

Presenting their second release of the year, Phenomena welcomes label boss Elias Erium back for a new EP. After taking a two-year hiatus, the Canadian artist made a welcome return to the spotlight this year. Projects for Eleatics subsidiary Aletheia Recordings and long-standing Berlin powerhouse Steyoyoke set the stage for the March release of ‘Harvester'. Coming courtesy of Phenomena, the two-track showcase revealed a more hypnotic side of the Canadian’s repertoire, in turn garnering support from underground favourites Mind Against. Continuing on an upwards trajectory, Eilas now lands back on his comfortable home of Phenomena with ‘The Grove’.

Elias’ capacity for storytelling resonates across the title selection 'The Grove’, as obsessive rhythms and hyperspace arps blanket warm punchy beats and monolithic grooves. The Montreal resident expounds his lavish future vision here, with prophetic drones and haunting pads providing a bridge into a desolate break. Clever co-actions and spirited synth phrasing makes for an intoxicating interlude, one which exudes a prophetic mood, before confidently returning to the groove for a heads down finale.

Continuing on a shadowy monochrome are the wintry qualities of 'Food for Thought'. Full of detail and idiosyncrasies, it's a cerebral voyage where the Canadian flexes his freethinking muscles, landing comfortably between soundscape science and groove-centric rhythms. The inevitable apex of this exploratory excursion mounts with shape-shifting layers and spiralling effects converging across an expansive break, achieving a thoughtful, austere timbre, before a melancholic lead sets the course for a cosmic conclusion. It rounds out an excellent EP from the Phenomena label boss, and preludes more good things to come as we approach the summer season.

Introducing a new name to Manual Music, and keeping the long tradition of giving (Dutch) talent a platform to showcase their exceptional music to the world, we proudly present the debut release of Krohl.

Krohl doesn't appear completely out of nowhere. In fact the Tilburg based producer has been part of the more mainstream orientated duo Matt & Kendo who released their music on labels such as Toolroom, Spinnin Deep, Lemon-aid and Flamingo amongst others. He even worked together on projects with big commercial names such as Joeysuki, Lucas & Steve and Funkerman to name a few.

But the heart wants what the heart wants. Krohl always had a deeply rooted love for the underground scene and it's genres. A love that ultimately lead to this three track release on Manual Music, featuring the songs Manisa, Grund and Melamun.

His productions are deep, mature and warm. Rich of melodies and tiny little details that make each song come alive and sparkle. We can only hope that Krohl follows his passion for deep and underground music more often, because the results speak for themselves..

"Tash's Movement Recordings begins the new year by welcoming Can Durmus to the label for his debut EP. The Turkish artist has been rising through the electronic underground with releases on Click Records and Symmetric Records. His unique blend of progressive house and melodic techno has earned praise from some of the world's foremost DJs, while also landing high chart positions on Beatport. Now getting 2020 off to a great start he debuts on Movement Recordings with the three track ‘Gravity' EP.

Beginning with the title track Can crafts a dark, sinister creation that's nicely geared for peak-time play. Punchy beats and rolling bass unite for a powerful low end, while piercing stabs and fiery percussion add mightily to its electric nature. Spacey and dramatic, astral arps take the narrative into a tense break, melting down to emotive chord changes and a bright tonal motif, before a lengthy build cues a powerful drop.

‘Algorithm' follows suit with an equally energetic approach. Robust rhythms carry the rolling groove while exotic effects and wispy atmospheres sweep across the stereo field. Once again drama and tension continue to rise, as a well-crafted break and clustered drum rolls reset the groove for a cosmic finale.

The peak time sensibility continues with the third and final selection ‘Unknown Machines'.It's bulbous kick and charged underbelly provide a perfect balance of bounce and drive. Sinister stabs and ethereal vocals layer the subterranean groove, as the framework strips down into the main break. Spanning nearly two minutes in length, the centrepiece builds drama through acid-like clusters and a massive drum roll, eventually reaching a fiery crescendo to round out the EP on a strong note. It makes for a superb Movement Recordings debut for Can Durmus, who has certainly gotten the new year off to a great start."

After Innellea played most of the tracks of the compilation in live sets and podcasts, people have asked for them a lot. “We live in a world dominated by fast pace. The ability to access anything, anywhere, at any time leads to an enormously short survival time - even for releases in the music industry.” That's why Innellea has chosen to not release the songs immediately to create something that can keep its shine for a longer time as a complete piece of art. To finish the past and initiate the future, Innellea decided now to release some of this tracks. As icing on the cake he made very limited edition of a fair trade, organic cotton long sleeve shirt in the course of the release. The shirt comes together with the eleven track compilation.
