CASOMAT006 is the ‘White Spring’ EP - two originals by Swiss producer Normen Hood and remixes by Deckert and Lerm & Hamoon. Based in Zürich, Normen Hood cites the mountains and rivers around his home as the inspiration for his music. And considering the consistent stream of quality output he produces, the inspiration is quite clearly (both literally and figuratively) flowing.

The two originals on the EP, ‘White Spring’ and ‘Luna’, both show Normen’s aptitude for melodies, with both being built around their own respective centrepiece synth-lines. White Spring’s is a looping arpeggio, almost disorientating at points, with the main motif being reflected and flipped and delayed and played back from all directions. Luna starts slow and gradually builds, teasing at what’s to come for a good 4 minutes before finally opening up into a huge pad, lush & expansive and completely enveloping the listener.

On remix duties for ‘White Spring’ is German producer Deckert, coming fresh off the back of a string of releases on labels like Stil Vor Talent, Connected and URSL. Sometimes alone, sometimes with production partner Aaaron and sometimes as part of electronic live act DEORBITING, Deckert clearly draws inspiration from numerous genres and styles and uses it to his advantage, creating diverse and innovative music.

Rounding out the EP is LERM & Hamoon’s interpretation of ‘Luna’. Budapest-based LERM and Tehran-based Hamoon are no strangers to each other, having already spent last summer collaborating and working on original music together - the results of which are starting to appear on labels like Future Frequencies. Hamoon says that his primary goal is to use synths to introduce unexplored experimental places to the realm of contemporary electronic music, an attitude which he and LERM clearly have in common. Their output can be described as interesting & thought-provoking music for connaisseurs, unafraid to break norms and venture into uncharted territories.

After delivering a three-tracked label start with two remixes and the original track by DkA & Jon Mosto, a clubby track wit sensual French vocals from Elena, it´s now Nandu´s turn with two original tracks, both of them again driven by juicy vocals. 

“The Lights”, the EP´s title track is a profound and complex story, never forcing itself upon the listener but gently picking him up in real sophisticated (production) manner. The second original track, “The Blckout”, is based upon a more repetitive structure. A deep male vocal, intertwining with a mystical synth-line and driving percussions gives this track its compelling energy. 

The B-Side of the release consists of two remixes by MYNY and Echonomist. The latter takes a touch on “The Lights”, giving it an even more clubby structure and placing the vocal in the magically-soundscaped break of the track. It then merges back into the driving synth & percussion groove - a real emotional, yet never even slightly cheesy banger! The second remix comes from German MYNY and perfectly rounds off the release with a deep and laid-back synth, surrounded by versatile and percussion layers and a beautifully-warm atmosphere. 

With releases of such deep understanding and understatement, one should be more than excited for what Scatcity has lined up next!

After the summer break we are proud to reveal the next record on Siamese. Shiffer, who surfaced on the first Siamese Anthology in 2017, is returning with a full EP, „Soul Masks“. Right after we received the first demos of this talented, in Basel, Switzerland born musician, we knew we have a story to tell. Far away from trends and expectations, Shiffer is creating unique dance music with a certain depth and warmth. Ever evolving this is the right moment to release this beautiful record, also featuring a great remix from The Drifter that was successfully tested on various grounds on the road. We know Mark for quite some time now and we remember talking to him about a possible appearance on the label right after we started. We are very happy to finally have him on board as we are supporters of his music and persona since a while. 

On the A-Side we have both the original and remix of „Ourself Behind Ourselves“. While Shiffer’s original relies on its groove and trippy sounds topped with a beautiful flute like melody, The Drifter takes things up a notch goes for a straighter more clubby approach. On the flip „Soul Masks“, the title track of the EP, is one of Shiffer’s more energetic peak time club tracks, while not losing his dedication to details and groove. Followed by „Waiting Hidden Spheres“, which was among the first demos we received from Shiffer. Right then we knew we want to work with him on a release and we already had a few wonderful closing moments with it.

During the lockdown I worked on a 23 minutes videoclip influenced by the feeling of those days. That project, called “High Rise”, is out today on Multinotes in the form of a three tracks Ep.
