Premiere: Agatha Pher - Whisper [Einmusika]

'Label boss Schtu returns to Casomat with the 'Maltese EP', two original tracks plus a remix by Italian producer Aldebaran, coming fresh off the back of EPs on ISOLATE and Sum Over Histories.

The title track 'Maltese' is a bit of a throwback to some of last decade's classics when melody was still king, proving once again that all you really need to take the dancefloor by storm is a strong groove, the right chord sequence and a killer lead synth. Just the right combination to tickle the eardrums and get the body moving. 

'Jaipur' takes things a whole lot deeper and caters arguably more to the thinkers than the dancers, with its complex & varying arrangement and meticulous attention to sound design being the prevailing characteristics. Still, a healthy dose of Schtu's signature harmonic simultaneity is to be expected throughout. 

Rounding out the EP is a remix by Aldebaran, who burst onto the scene in 2018 and in less than 4 years has already released on the likes of Innervisions, Kompakt, Diynamic, Afterlife and pretty much every other big player that you can think of. He turns Maltese into a hectic, driving beast - layers upon layers piling up yet somehow simultaneously remaining perfectly clear, each one occupying its own little corner of the sonic landscape.'

London-based John Monkman is the founder of Beesemyer Music but also serves up his rich sounds on Kompakt, Last Night On Earth and Drumcode. He works across multiple styles and as much as making music for the club, he also cooks up richly atmospheric and emotive music. 

He has worked with Pete Tong, Bryan Ferry and Nile Rodgers and when on tour, he plays live in the world's best venues. First up is the immediately arresting 'Perception' with its flashes of synth, whirring drones and textured drums. Spoken words bring a sense of paranoia as twitchy effects, icy percussion and swinging drums all work you into a frenzy. Monkman took inspiration from a Timothy Leary interview for the record envisioning “a phrase repeating with a synthesizer response, in essence a conversation between man & machine”. 

Second cut 'Impulse' is a more groove-driven tune with kicks that rock back and forth under slapping hits. The synth designs are futuristic and the whole vibe is one of intergalactic exploration of the unknown. Both of these hugely accomplished tracks will bring a scene of cinematic drama to any set.

“Lezter” offers up two tracks that are bound to stir your emotions and get your feet moving. The first track, the Original Mix, is something of a marvel in the melodic techno sphere. It’s one of those tracks that you know is destined to become a timeless piece from the very first listen.

Then, there’s the Hasan Ghazi Remix – a track that manages to be both ethereal and full of vigor simultaneously. It’s a rare find to come across a remix that both pays homage to the original and stands strong on its own, but that’s exactly what Hasan Ghazi has accomplished here.

Andy de Gage’s previous works with us have not only resonated with listeners but have also made quite the splash on Beatport. We’re all eagerly anticipating that “Lezter” will follow suit, breaking records and capturing hearts. Sebas Ramos, though new to our label with this EP, showcases a level of mastery that makes it clear he’s here to leave his mark on the music world.

The EP is more severe with Robin Schellenberg's remix (Stil Vor Talents, Kamai Music, Chapter 24, Rebellion, Der Träumer). Robin hosted a very special remix of the title track Veilchen. Nice atmosphere, a mental break and amazing grooves.

We are sure this release is a worthy start of the year and we hope all DJs will soon be back to the booth and will play music again.
