The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings finds the label presenting a new installment of its 'Technical Progress' series. Conceptualized in 2010 these various artist showcases have grown into one of the underground's most critically acclaimed series, continually featuring some of electronic music's most talented newcomers. With the twelfth edition of the series landing in May of last year with resounding success, Movement Recordings now presents the much-anticipated thirteenth installment featuring exclusive material from (in order of appearance): Bobby Deep Kylian Lake, Rocio Portillo, Valley (AR), Karim Sar Sar, Lateral Shift, Notoir, Nas Horizon and George Harbas, Blac J and Wielki and Globaldancr.

The release begins with Bobby Deep returning to the label for the first time in over six years with his latest studio creation 'Crow'. Known for his timeless style, the Greek artist crafts a profound mood setting piece with dark stabs, groovy basslines, shuffling percussion, and a soulful vocal which ultimately drives a strong emotional narrative throughout. Making his label debut with the second selection is Brazilian artist Kylian Lake. Known for finding a cohesive balance between progressive and melodic house and techno, Kylian's 'Light Side' leans towards the former with it's emotive synth phrasing and chunky, progressive minded grooves. Moving forward, selection three welcomes Rocio Portillo, Valley (AR) and Karim Sar Sar to the label with 'Dark Passenger'. Hailing from Argentina, this trio of rising artists made a memorable impression with their first collaborative effort in 2022 via 3rd Avenue. Continuing to build on that creative synergy with 'Dark Passenger', the trio crafts a spacious progressive builder which eventually reveals strong rhythmic qualities, haunting vocals and a tough yet groovy finale. Fresh off releases for onedotsixtwo and Spring Tube is Lateral Shift who makes his label debut with 'Landslide'. The Australian artist brings a smooth effortless approach to his brand of progressive music, as evidenced by the textural qualities, emerging atmospheres and astral sonics of 'Landslide'.

This summer Moderna Y Theus Mago return with their fourth collaboration release ‘Give Chance A Trance’, the four-track EP will be released on Duro Label. The duo have an established history of their own sound that touches on various genres and this ep is no different, featuring cuts of techno, acid, and dark disco that bring you electrifying sounds, elusive rhythms, and dystopian vibes.

Starting off strong with ‘La Tranca’ an energetic and galloping track with articulate vocals and psychedelic synthesizers that create an atmosphere of trap and invites you to choose your destiny for the night. Next up is ‘Preset Body’ a chaotic track with an acidic bassline and a booming drum that immerses you in a whirlwind of rotating and twisted synthesizers, with vocals that feel like strobes in the night.

Making the rounds across festivals in the US and playing at renowned venues like Le Poisson Rouge in New York City or
Bijou in Boston, Carlo Sine has cemented his status in the history of American music. 

He knows what it takes to get people on the dancefloor, being the founder and curator of the Sine Language parties. He is a creator of experiences with a unique sound, playing with the genres of Psychedelic Disco and House to create his signature Sine sound.

His latest EP ‘Mr. Undercover’ continues his exploration into the Dark Disco genre, bringing in remixes from Martin Cozar and Rigopolar. 

With the self titled track pulling you deep into song and rhythm, the real Mr. Undercover’s vocals creep up on you mid-track. The synths act as a coverup, with the vocals swiftly disappearing back into the electronic beat before you can discover more about him. The second track ‘Duty’ comes in much harsher with a steady (almost industrial)
beat, with the occasional dystopian sound of a robotic  snnouncement. This is the last song you will dance to before
artificial intelligence takes over the earth, so make it count. Martin Cozar’s remix of ‘Mr. Undercover’ turns the track more sinister, as it becomes more of a deep dance where one suspects that Mr. Undercover is lurking on the dancefloor. Rigopolar’s remix of ‘Duty’ is a strong end to the EP, as you wind down in the brain of a computer.

No longer a dystopian rendition of the end of the world, you feel yourself give in to the psychedelic sounds whilst being guided by a calm robotwoman into the future. The EP as a whole feels like an exploration of hidden identities amidst the contrast of strict
technological worlds; ‘Mr. Undercover’ is for listeners of the future to delve into their undercover selves.

The ‘Mr. Undercover’ EP is set to be released on all platforms on August 19th, 2024 via Rigopolar’s Miami based Tour De Infinite label.

FEINSTOFF PREMIERE: Darlyn Vlys - Besson [POLARIS]

Mexico meets Augsburg! Feines Tier veterans @theusmago and @dominik-marz join forces for the „Timewarp“ EP. And to everybody whose stream of consciousness associates this title to terms like „Feierei“ and „Gude Laune“: Well, you’re not wrong. The message is brought to you through on-point less-is-more drum programming, distorted toms, crystalline synths, chirping 303s and spliced-up vocals. So basically everything you’d ever need for a proper feierei. Mr Smallville Paris aka Jacques Bon and his pal Drux (nomen est omen?) serve their exquisite tastebuds to cook up a bittersweet remix of the tune, which makes for a deep(!) dish with its trippy percussion layers and nebulous pads. Maybe don’t drive a car after consuming this one. The gude vibes continue with „Fredonien“ which is served in two variations: Firstly the „Vox Mix“ which is going all in on honoring its title and is as sweet as candy, with the synth chords adding that dip of melancholy we’re craving from all the best deep house tunes. The regular version is a more streamlined affair, but don’t be fooled: The amount it’s lacking in heart wrenching vocals is more than made up by melodramatic Mellotron-y synths dropping by from time to time to say hello and raise the stakes. All we’ve got left to say after all these timewarps, drux and vox is: More of this collab, please!

STELLA GALACTICA: SPÆCIAL MIX 376

Set to arrive in September, ‘We Are Le Turfu’ is the debut collaborative effort by creatively curious French producers REMAIN & daWad. REMAIN is a well-known Rex Club resident,
founder of Meant Records, and has a plethora of releases on labels including Throne of Blood, Darkroom Dubs, and Death On Wax. He is a man of many simultaneous projects, namely Danse Alice, which has previously released on Lumière Noire.
 
daWad has co-managed the IRM label which released Traumer’s first records, who came from a musical family with his pianist mother and his grandfather an organist and harmonizer for a church in Provence. With releases on KNTRL, La Dame Noir Records, Beachcoma and more, this new project marks his debut on Lumière Noire.

Their duo alias known as ‘We Are Le Turfu’ was coined one night, playing records back-to- back, dancefloor receptive, captive, grooving, and bursting at the seams. With decades of experience under their belts, this three-track EP is the first studio effort of the combo and flawlessly embodies the delightfully dark, cybernetic electronica CHLOÉ’s avant-garde label and club night is renowned for.

Opening track ‘Shame Shell’ see’s REMAIN & daWad enlisting a harsh, wintery mix of melodics to clash menacingly with the track’s probing bassline. Whilst somewhat sparse in parts, these producers have curated a deeply atmospheric and mesmerising composition, employing spidery synth patterns alongside mechanised percussion to produce a gloomy, sub-aquatic soundscape.

‘Still Care’ weaves sinister electronic measures with cutting EBM-like motifs. The track’s abrasive inception, which features a coarse cluster of murmuring overtones and hypnotic drum rolls, methodically grows in stature and before-long bursts at the track’s mid-point to make way for glacial strings which adds an icy ambience to this dark, cosmic roller.

A special remix on this release comes from Charlotte Bendiks, an artist from Norway who focuses on alluring dance and body music. Although her main genre is classic house, her sets are inspired and influenced by music ranging from disco to African groove and Latin beats. Her live vocals and percussion, as well as integrating other musicians has become somewhat of a trademark. Her remix for ‘Still Care’ takes the original into a more
downtempo, trippy edit.

The first single ‘Same Shell’ will be released on the 13th September and ‘We Are Le Turfu’ EP will be available from 4th October on Lumière Noire Records.
