Hot on the heels of Helsloot's superb 'Let's Pretend' single in April come two new remixes of it by Tube & Berger and Saint Evo.

Helsloot's original was quickly picked up by an array of DJs and dropped in a number of great sets. It was the latest in a string of fresh singles from the Dutch DJ and the extended mix is included again here. It is a hypnotic and rolling house tune with lush chords that bring plenty of cosmic vibes.

First to remix it are German mainstays and Kittball Records founders Tube & Berger. This pair has amassed over 100 million streams to their name, have scored a number of Beatport Top 5 hits and are regulars at leading parties like ANTS in Ibiza and the legendary Tomorrowland. Their take on 'Let's Pretend' is a light and airy, disco-tinged and bouncy house cut. The scintillating chords bring light, a steamy vocal layers in the soul and the whole thing takes you into another dime nsion.

Saint Evo is the founder of Celsius Degree Records and hails from the savannah plains of Kajiado County, the home of the famed Maasai people. He is a pioneer of the Afro house sound in East Africa and has collaborated with a multitude of producers and vocalists from across the globe. Here he remixes 'Let's Pretend' into a chunky groove with delicate synths and starry-eyed melodies. The percussion brings rich Afro house vibes and the vocals become spiritual chants that cast a majestic spell.

This is a vital package that brings some fresh new influences to the great original from Helsoot.

Yes, it's the warmest of welcomes back to the Selador fold for UK Producer Made by Pete, architect of one of our biggest tunes of recent times, Beautiful Silence – now returning with the sexy, snake-hipped floorshaker that is The Forgotten Ones.

In truth, 'tis a bit of a misnomer, as this is one tune that won't be forgotten in a hurry. Built around the simplest but most brooding of basslines, a bobby dazzler of rumbling brilliance that forms the foundation stone for all that is to come. Assorted percussive layers are added, synth riffs then sneak up with no warning, an ethereal vocal snippet weaves in and out…but still that bassline just doesn't let go. When the drop does come, it's not done with one eye on a potential Instagram post, it's the class of subtlety that prevails. A potent, heady brew.

Talking of Beautiful Silence, as we were (pay attention at the back), we are indebted to another label favourite, the inimitable FKA Mash, for bringing us a stunning rework of this hardy Seladorian perennial. His 'afro glitch' mix is a thing of wonder. A taut intro slowly giving way to beautiful pads, perfectly setting the stage for Jinadu's unmistakable vocal to ease its way to centre stage. All of which sets the tone for a stirring crescendo that will no doubt see this evergreen number ignite dance floors once more.

Hyenah is an artist creating musical transitions between African house music and the western scene. While creating his own signature sound, he has become a strong ambassador for diversity in the music industry. 

Movement being the key word here. It is not a solo undertaking: Hyenah is simply a part of the RISE collective. There is a togetherness in this community, one that isn’t governed by a specific head or individual. Each artist and clubgoer plays their part in growing such a scene, forming a common desire to develop as one unified body.

His new album "Love In Times Of Crisis" exemplifies this mission, further raising awareness and helping to showcase different musical cultures. It allows the listener to appreciate diversity through music, empowering producers and building bridges between continents as a result.

The enigmatic producer spoke on his ethos behind making music, as well as describing the global context that brought about the LP: “Hyenah spreads the message of unity and equality, filling dancefloors with love and joining communities from Durban to Tokyo, Copenhagen to Sao Paulo. Whilst things may have come to a halt in 2020, the artist behind the visor continued to work on a musical vision: and now it’s about to be released. Love In Times Of Crisis is a collaboration with friends and colleagues from all over the world.”

This month, our release is made in South Africa, and we continue with our Selections of exceptional tracks: Creative Connected Experiences, Vol.3 made in South Africa.
Let’s start with Echo Deep, releasing “Sabisayo”, which starts right away with soft piano chords and a rhythmic synth. A voice coming from far away leads into the main theme and the track picks up with the rhythm, sustained until the end.

The second release is by Dj weather and Vtrinity with “Barena”. The track is a deep Afro house piece, with a strong bass “a la” Ten Wall, which leads the melody and the character. Neil Amarey’s remix stands out for his rhythmic drums and mysterious pad. The magic of this track fully flows thanks to its dynamic and surprising elements.
The other track by Dj Weather is with Skeptical Kevo, it’s called “Tell Kususa” and develops around a melodic pad. It starts melancholic and grows in energy, until the piano chords kick in and the rhythm starts growing again after the break. Enjoy our February South African sounds!

Midi Minds Kenya in conjunction with The Safari Collection, Backdrop Agency & Madorasindahouse travelled to Samburu National Conservancy to capture and highlight the musical identity of the Samburu warriors, women and children, in the form of a song based sample pack, a documentary format video, and a Various Artists music compilation (VA). 
This project is set out to raise awareness, financial ability and cultural highlight towards the Samburu tribe and community, through using selected Recordings for the production of this 19-track compilation. It features productions by Laolu, Armonica, Da Capo, Caiiro, Shimza, Sifa, Umami, KEENE, Klement Bonelli, XtetiQsoul and many more, as well as local Kenyan talent, such as Suraj, Saint Evo, Foozak & Dylan-S. 
After visiting the Westgate area of Samburu, and discussions with the community leaders, we found the most common day to day issue they face is lack of educational infrastructure. We firmly believe that this is a cause worth advocating for.
The community is not able to establish a sustainable educational system and that is why part of the proceedings will go towards building a class-room in the primary school and provide sustainable contributions to the teachers fund. The whole process will be part of a documentary that will be released along with the Compilation, in an event held in Nairobi, Kenya on the 30th of November 2019.

Ripe with deep afrocentric vibes and underpinned by a melancholy undertow, 'Over Him, Under Him’ sees Monique deliver a stunning performance, musing heartfelt lyrics about letting go of difficult relationship. The package is aimed firmly at the dance floor with 4 stellar mixes from Vivona, which blaze between afro, deep tech, hypnotic house and prismatic jazzy flavours.
Sicilian producer DJ Vivona has been a stalwart on the music scene for a number of years, running his successful Sunclock label, known for its contemporary Afro, Deep and house output with artists such as Eno Napa, Pablo Fierro, Mario Bianco, Radyon, Dazzle Drums and many more. Some of his own productions for the label feature acclaimed vocalists such as Lisa Shaw and Joi Cardwell. Vivona’s profile recently rocketed after he remixed legendary King Street Sounds tracks from Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer, Tiger Stripes, Mood II Swing and Barbara Tucker. His original productions on King St have also been remixed by greats such as Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper aka Director's Cut, Joeski, Basti Grub, Gene Farris, Dino Lenny, Vince Watson and Rocco. In summer 2019, his ‘Worldwide’ single on Subliminal Records was hailed as one of best tracks of the Ibiza season by Mixmag and as a result he’s 2 more releases forthcoming on the label this year. With a brand new single with Monique Bingham for Sunclock and an upcoming song premiering on legendary Crystal Waters' IAH Records, 2020 has already been truly productive and successful!
Monique Bingham has been responsible for some of the most poignant, soulful jazz-infused house music of the past 20 years with her distinctive voice and brilliant songwriting skills. Her career began fronting the “acid jazz” band Abstract Truth in 1995 with their first single 'Get Another Plan', which received international critical acclaim. Their follow up single, 'We Had a Thing’ in 1998 became an indisputable soulful house classic due to Matthias Heilbronn’s infectious house remix. Since then, Monique has gone on to work with some of the world’s most respected producers including Kerri Chandler, Jellybean Benitez, Karizma, Louie Vega, Todd Terry and Black Coffee, among others. She has also worked extensively with Ralf GUM, exploding on to the South African scene with their 2012 collaboration ‘Take Me To My Love’ and going on to release huge singles such as ‘With Her Hand’ with the legendary Hugh Masekela, ‘Claudette’, ‘Kissing Strangers’, The Pap' ‘Little West 12th Street’ and more, on Ralf’s GoGo Music label. As a result Monique has been a regular fixture on festival stages in South Africa for number of years.

South African talent Bruce Loko returns to Get Physical with ‘After Hours’, a standout new single featuring the vocal talents of Biishop and co-produced with Rampa. Bruce Loko has truly been one of the blossoming stars of South Africa’s electronic music scene over the last few years. Affilated with other key, home grown talent such as Ryan Murgatroyd and Aero Manyelo, he broke through with his contributions to the Africa Get’s Physical album back in 2017 and has since gone on to release solo for Freerange Records as well as with Get Physical.
For his latest offering he teams up with vocalist and newcomer Biishop for a song which has been co-produced with Germany’s Rampa. ‘After Hours’ is seven and a half minutes of deep and emotive house music with an understated musicality providing the perfect soundbed for Biishop’s soaring, soulful vocals. Sensual drum programming and warped bass tones play together below the surface as hearfelt piano chords roll between the emotional lyrics. This is another surefire winner from Bruce Loko and the Get Physical label.
