'Presenting their second release of the year, Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP imprint welcomes Nacres to the label for his debut single. With a career that spans three decades, Turkish artist Nacres was a fixture of his country’s nightlife for many years, DJing at some of Istanbul’s trendiest venues, most notably Andromeda, Club 2019 (Twenty) and Taxim Night Park. A lengthy hiatus from the industry would see Nacres return in 2018 when his career as a producer would officially begin. On the strength of early tracks 'Nibiru' and 'Grand Jete', the Turkish artist established himself amongst the progressive house community and inturn landed releases via Bonzai Records, Droid9 and his own Soundeluxe Records imprint. Now, adding RKP to his resume, Nacres debuts on the label with ‘Naturalize’, alongside remixes from Kyotto and Mayro. 

Getting the release underway and sitting as one of Nacre’s most engaging productions to date is the original mix. Warm beats and a full, rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of phasing percussion and tranquil arps. Pushing a deep meditative mood into the break; Nacres marries wispy effects with rising modulation across the mood lifting interlude, building anticipation with each successive pass, as arpeggiated fragments open up, before eventually giving way to a thumping drop and hypnotic finale.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation of ‘Naturalize’ is Kyotto. First emerging in 2017, Sri Lankan artist Kyotto was quickly tipped as one of his country’s most promising progressive house artists. Releases via JEE Productions, Mango Alley, Sound Avenue and his own CRFT Music imprint have been recent discography highlights, while Hernan Cattaneo continues to be steadfast with support. Continuing to rise out of his country’s electronic landscape, Kyotto now debuts on RKP with a gorgeous take on ‘Naturalize’. Smooth and groovy across the first movement, Kyotto continues his stylized ways with buoyant percussive arrangements and emotive chord changes creating a smooth path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in a poignant yet thought provoking space, Kyotto’s emotive melodies rise out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, adding perfectly to its meditative nature, before eventually breaking off into a heartwarming drop and charming conclusion.

Providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Naturalize’ is Mayro who also makes his label debut. Based in Argentina, Pablo Maneiro aka Mayro has been producing a blend of progressive, deep and melodic house for the better part of a decade. World class DJs Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Miss Monique and Nick Warren have all taken a liking to his sound, which has found a home on Mango Alley, Siona Records, WARPP and his own Traful imprint. Continuing on an upwards tradegory as we enter the year’s second half, Mayro adds RKP to resume with a powerful rendition of ‘Naturalize’. Taking inspiration from the original, Mayro flexes his free-thinking muscles and crafts a version that lands comfortably between the surreal and exotic. Neatly manicured percussion and a thunderous, hip-swinging groove set the course for snatches of trippy effects, which ultimately highlight the first act. Coming to full fruition across the main break, tension rises as the primary theme emerges, while never letting go of its tranquil vibration, pushing onwards to a glowing final act.'

GMJ and Matter make their return to Sudbeat with an astonishing three track EP. 

Studio partners for years, the pair have carved out a niche sound that captures both artists’ love of electronic music and the souring soundscapes that conjure visceral memories on dancefloors the world over. Signed to everyone from Balance Music to Replug their no nonsense beats are a crowd favourite. 

Opening with ‘Arkeron’ The duo pick up from where they left off on their recent Showcrates offering, ‘Atunga’. Tough drums and rubbery bass framework a delicate arps and icy blasts of pad. A perfect heads down groover. 

‘Soular’ walks a slightly deeper path. Emotional and hypnotic, vocal adlibs and impactful sonics warmly greet you and entice you out onto the floor. A masterpiece of sound design that showcases the duo’s incredible connection. 

Finally, ‘Nassaukade’ hammers home the deepness with a groovy, low slung vibe for the early mornings just before sunrise. Rising slowly the synths are full of eastern promise and hopefulness. I fine ending to an outstanding collection of tracks.

Greek superstar, Ziger returns to Sudbeat with three incredible tracks. 

From learning his craft at the turn of the century to being on the lips of the scenes elite, Ziger's sonic journey has been littered with high points. Signed to a mouth-watering number of labels including Plattenbank, ICONYC and JOOF shows the wide spectrum of his sound design and the appeal his music has to the scene itself. Take 'Rumble' for example; rawkus and bass-driven, it thunders from the speakers with understated elegance. Pretty arps twinkle and leftfield FX trip out all heading towards the main break that magically ups the energy for the second half. A work of musical genius. 
Then there's 'Dot' which starts from a deep place but packs just the same punch. Building slowly with spoken vocals punctuating the groove, the main break here is hands in the air epic. And finally, 'Adapt' which playfully uses light and dark to paint its audio picture. Like a caged lion waiting for its moment to escape, the build up is tense but the pay off magnificent.

A passionate advocate of modern organica, Beije are a welcome addition to the Proton Music roster with their full debut EP in the shape of "Ardere".

Based in Toronto, Quinton De Freitas and Vance Morgan have carved out a beautifully distinctive sound under the Beije moniker. Coming together in 2018, they describe their sound as a blend of hypnotic rhythms and melancholic melodies coming together to create unforgettable moments on the dancefloor." These "moments" have translated to more than a double century of production credits on a raft of esteemed imprints that include 3rd Avenue, Café De Anatolia, Harabe and Paul Hazendonk's MNL.

A pair of remixes have shone brightly within the Proton Music catalogues with typically impressive reworkings of Juan Deminicis' "Water" in March 20222 and Lisandro's "Love" at the end of the same year. Now returning mid-way through 2024, the "Ardere" title track is a gloriously multi-faceted affair that ripples enticingly with a complex percussive groove and deep sub-bass pattern. A shimmering arpeggio takes up the mantle, rising and falling with ease, while a complimentary piano adds a deft touch. Building easily through its different phases, the various melodic elements combine easily in subtle and hypnotic fashion, perfect for late-night dancefloor adventures.

With its bongo-tinged top line element and heavy kick, "Impetus" is further developed with filtered motifs that evolve in smooth waves of sonic beauty. An elegant piano sequence is added to proceedings at the mid-point providing a delicate counterpoint to the metronomic synth. Open-filtered energy emerges through the breakdown and via understated effected touches, before rhythmic elements drop back into the fray with a dynamic vibrancy.

The final track finds "Lumina" taking centre stage with its off-beat hats and reverb-soaked melodic touches. Driving forward with a strong kick, a searing and free-flowing synth line cuts through the mix with ease. Complementary pads add to the sonic stratification in thickly textured atmosphere before a trademark piano phrase adds rare beauty. Rising to a breakdown crescendo, the various rhythmic elements drop back in before the melodic phrases add aural intrigue in the latter movements.

Burning brightly with a music triptych of the highest quality, Beije impress with "Ardere".
