Loops of African Juju Witchcraft Dance, Chants from India, and percussive record grooves swirl together once again on a SP202 to form the new album Ancestral Motion.

With contributions from Yea Big, Ian Sheridan, and Ohtis’s Adam Pressley & Nate Hahn, Ancestral Motion gives life to a rare fusion of tropical world music and improv jazz.

Grains From Sky

Opening with a contact mic attached to a canoe being dragged onto a sand beach. Electronics and a 4ms Noise Swash mimic birds and insects while slowly blooming and bubbling into one another. Bass guitar is the string that keeps us grounded, until you realize that the birds are talking about you and floating further to the sky on a cloud of synthesizers.

This was written over lockdown in the pandemic and decided to make a summer cassingle for these 2 tracks that have had no home. Both are glitchy experimental ambient tracks, ending with Smeared which is a live deconstruction of an 8 second piece of audio into an expanding canvas of noises emulating nature.

Swim Ignorant Fire's first release with no below in collaboration with Lofgren and Erickson started with an intimate story of Stephen's grandmother Rose's diagnosis and fall into Alzheimer's. The pull of the two rose blooms creating a line of tension surrounded by a haze of static is muffled by the arching waves of the dark, incised drypoint lines. The clarity of the rose becomes scondary to the noise surrounding it. The title I Don't Know How Much Longer I Can Hold This, referencing the moments before detonation in Terminator 2, echos a breaking point or a letting go that Stephen channels in the 5 minute compositions.
