October 2023 — 
We landed in the heart of the jungle, arriving in total darkness on the banks of the Rio Negro in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas. Waiting for us was a hand-built boat that would carry us hundreds of miles into the depths of the Amazon rainforest.

This footage (YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBV7s2mXD9E) was taken at sunrise on our fifth day, as we lifted anchor and drifted  onward. We were there during the lowest water levels in the Amazon’s recorded history — where rivers can rise and fall more than 50 feet between seasons. Normally a route for the night, daylight travel was our only way to avoid running aground. With hand-carved sticks to measure the depth, our local guides led the way in small wooden canoes, tracing safe passages through the ever-shifting channels.

In those moments, we had never been further from the comforts of modern life — yet never felt more secure. 

There was something transcendent about watching our guides move through the water with intuition, navigating without maps or modern tools.

Freed from phones and connectivity, we spent our days perched on the deck, watching the jungle unfold around us. We listened to music, to silence, to each other. We imagined a world without the constant hum of noise.

This Formation was born from those moments — a reflection of stillness, energy, and the rhythm of the river that stays with us forever.
