✼ This new release is by our favorite Morrocan label @raghoulmusic and features the Senegalese-Hispanic artist @b4mba (known from the Barcelona-based @jokkoocloud collective)

✼ B4MBA's release is called "NGELAW" which means "wind" in Wolof — the paternal language of the artist. Part of a larger saga centered around the four elements, NGELAW was shaped by the concept of travel. Drawing from the animist essence of African spirituality which assumes the notion that we are all made of these elements, the artist plays with his voice as an instrument over a bass-heavy beat.

Microhm presents "Entrelazada," a five-track EP that delves deep into contemporary sound design. In this project, the Mexican artist deconstructs and rebuilds rhythms of the Latin diaspora, pushing genres like dembow, reggaeton, dancehall, and cumbia into uncharted territories. With a minimalist and futuristic approach, each track immerses the listener in meticulously synthesized soundscapes, where electronic textures and latent pulses blend to create an auditory experience that challenges club conventions, straddling the line between the classic and the avant-garde.

This EP also features 6 stunning remixes by Zutzut, Imaabs, Lyo XS, Ruiseñor, Entrañas, and Benfika + Pegaso. Every track has been carefully mastered by Imaabs, with cover art by Sofia Papadopoulos.

✱ "This project is a diary of my darkest emotions, grief, guilt, sadness, fury, and pain, indulgence in chaos and the feeling of imminent doom. An emptiness that rots and corrodes, a compendium with the darkest parts inside me and how to stop escaping from them, accept them as part of who I am and maybe you too.

✱ In this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a couple of tracks with 2 incredible artists: @santa_ninha ("Huesos de Serpiente") and @venvsdad ("Solo Ruinas Quedan"), who in their music communicate something, that I feel closely related to."

Este proyecto es un diario de mis emociones más oscuras, pena, culpa, tristeza, furia y dolor, la indulgencia en el caos y el sentimiento de perdición inminente, un vacío que pudre y corroe, un compendio con las partes más sombrías en mi interior y como dejar de escapar de ellas, aceptarlas entre la distorsión, la crudeza y las percusiones como parte de lo que soy y quizás tu también.

En este proyecto tuve la oportunidad de colaborar en un par de tracks con 2 artistas increíbles, Santa Niña y VENVSDAD quienes en su música y en los sentires que comunica me puedo encontrar personalmente. con Santa Niña en Huesos de Serpiente y VENVSDAD en Solo Ruinas Quedan.

Metathesis is a shifting of positions in motion. With this EP, Microhm wraps up a trilogy of sonic narratives exploring a quest for Latin American futurism, unleashed onto the dance floor as a contemporary ritual. This trilogy, released throughout 2024, kicks off with Desvanecer, presented by Infinite Machine, followed by Entrelazada and Metathesis under Terminal. It’s a progression of intensities, rhythms, and forms that explores into the blending of genres and techniques.

In Metathesis, hydrophone recordings and marine sounds collected by the artist in various areas of Baja California are sculpturally deformed to create the textures, atmospheres, and melodic foundations that accompany the rhythmic structures of dembow, reggaeton, and polyrhythmic techno variants. These are generated using the artist’s classic set of algorithmic tools and analog synthesis techniques that she typically employs in her productions.
