British singer-songwriter RAYE shines as one of the brightest stars in music today, boasting eight Top 20 UK singles, 5 Billion global streams, an Ivor Novello Award, and a track record of writing for the industry’s biggest names. Since her debut in 2014, RAYE has undergone a remarkable journey to stardom. Nominated for a record-breaking seven 2024 BRIT Awards – the most of any artist in one year – her long-awaited independent debut album “My 21st Century Blues” made an immediate impact. As a welcome result of her self-fulfilling work, RAYE unknowingly created the song that became synonymous with 2023. The global smash “Escapism.” not only became the largest selling single by a female British artist in 2023, but it also earned RAYE her first UK #1 and entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US where it’s since been certified Platinum. I had my first introduction to electronic music with the release of Odesza's album "In Return" in 2014. I was instantly obsessed, and since then I have always had a passion for edm. During my senior year of high school (2017-2018) Illenium's album "Awake" was released, and it completely changed my perspective of what electronic music could be. The vocals, production, and emotion of those tracks were unlike anything I had ever heard. That album got me through some very hard times, and I wanted to do the same for someone else through music. Towards the end of senior year I downloaded Ableton (a popular program for music production). I was incredibly overwhelmed. I had no prior musical knowledge or experience, and Ableton is extremely difficult to jump into. I learned quickly that it takes a tremendous amount of knowledge, creativity, and hard work to produce music. This was a discouraging revelation. Every few months I would sit down, produce a terrible track, close my laptop and move on thinking "this just isn't for me". Then around December of freshman year of college, a switch flipped in my mind. I decided that I was not going to stop until I learned music production. That was about six years ago, and I'm still working hard to produce music with emotion, something people can connect with. I truly believe that no heart makes dreams work and time can't match.
