01 - 959er - Stay (SOWASVON SWSNV006)

With their new EP “Stay“ 959er & Nomi Solo embark upon an acoustic journey, inspired by World Music, Chill Out and Down Tempo. And the result is what they call “Dümpeltechno“ at its best.

The opening track “Stay“ is dominated by a wobble synth, thrilling but not too buzzy. It's, genealogically speaking, technoid origin is noticed when the kick-drum drops. The harmonic flute theme and the repetitive vocal in the middle of the track cause a sentimental, suspense- packed atmosphere. The composition is topped of with moderate percussions and a decent humming tune.

“Am Morgen nach einer durchtanzten Nacht” introduces the second track of the EP. “Carong”, accompanied by organ and a deep synth, takes you on an intense and mysterious trip down to the actual theme which impresses by harmonious guitar chords. The use of traditional shakers and the catchy bassline create an atmosphere which again and again invites you to dream.

“Listen” increases the pace, which makes it good club music. It gets its power from an energetic bassline and an orchestral-like synth. The effect of rolling is enhanced by rhythmic elements. Not least the dynamic steeldrums give it its particular character.

“Jenny” is the spherical closing word of the EP. The stretched out keys and guitar chords, supported by much delay, make your thoughts wander about. And again it's the precisely used percussions which make the composition unique. This track doesn't have to have a real bassline, which creates space and the melancholic vocal makes your thoughts float further and further.
