Taken from "Balam - Chants of Pachamama (Part 2) EP (Hard Fist)". Out October 15th.

After a first volume released in September 2020 on Hard Fist, Argentinian Balam comes with “Chants of Pachamama (Part. 2)”, including a remix by Matias Aguayo.
This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end. 
The opening track “Yagé” is the name for a magic plant that can be found in many places in South America. With a tight djembe, the magician comes with his chants for starting the ceremony just before the bass bursts for a pagan dance. An irresistible lead synth takes the climax higher until the break where the magician enters the void and the psychedelic trip begins.
“El Curandero” - the chaman who leads the ritual - is the second tune of a frenetic organic and modular percussion bass driven dance stomper. Blazing synthesizers create a state of confusion and hallucinations when “el curandero” chants his icaros. The djembes and shakers move behind the heavy bassline while analog ding and dongs go crazy all over.
The second last track “Golfo”, just before the remix, is an instrumental tune, the end of the experience: heavy synthetic percussion, modular ambient sounds, a modal marimba and a very present djembe jamming until it fades in the analog night.
The closing track is a great reinterpretation of “Wakax” from “Chants of Pachamama (Part 1)” by the legend Matias Aguayo. A dark and heavy bass mixed with a tricky use of lots of the original elements makes you wanna twerk all night long.

This is the first record on Slow Motion’s sister label, Wrong Era.
Wrong Era takes the name from our monthly Berlin party and has a focus on international artists who are dealing in all things electronic and discoid. The first release comes courtesy of Kruton aka Milo Smee (Bintus, Power Vacuum), who brings four tracks of mechanical funk and tweaking disco. Included in the package is his remix of Friction by Gold Blood, a track that has long been a secret weapon for a few select DJ’s. The next 12 incher on Wrong Era is made by Marching Machines, a duo made of two Belgian powerhouses: Dimitri Andreas and Spacid. Their love for electronic machine manipulation and their musical history that spans over 2 decades, built an excellent foundation for this brand new project. “Lonesome” is a slow burning dark electro track with howling and gloomy synths that flow into acidic tendencies. “Desolat” continues on the emotional path of the previous track, embracing solitude on a broken rhythm, ending up in arpeggiating classic and cosmic italo track. In succession of that, there’s “Driven” which moves up to dancefloor dynamics by using harder and raw sounds, combined with an analogue pulsewave sound generator and building into a release of energy with wavy synths and smashing snares. The final track is a remix of “Lonesome” by one of Wrong Era’s label bosses Fabrizio Mamarella. While the original idea is still intact, the remix is a definite bigger and faster version, implying a stark contrast that still remains powerful, perfectly made for the dancefloor.

FREEDL025 // Giorgio Moroder - Scarface Soundtrack (BadWolf Edit)

If you still haven’t heard about Bonkers Records, you should take the opportunity to take a quick peek at their vast catalogue. Varying from Techno and Minimal to the so-called Indie Dance and Dark Disco, you are certainly going to find some bangers amidst their more than 30 releases. A good tip is to start with their “Best Of” compilations.

After kicking off 2021 with “Jupiter” – a rave-infused dark & hardcore EP by Russian producer Johnny Kvant –, the prolific Mexican label now delivers “Vicium”, a more “well-behaved” released featuring three bouncing originals by “El Jefe” Ludviq and five neat remixes made with love by Lithuanian Aurum Miles, Argentinian Favio Inker, and Mexicans Chinosynth (FREEDL021), Fausto (SXDNS064) and Didaskein.

For his interpretation of “El Txque”, Favio Inker started speeding things up a little bit, providing a more playful atmosphere to the opening theme. The addition of more percussive elements and synth pads resulted in a more trippy version. Despite keeping the main essence of the original, Favio’s touch is highly notable and definitely one of the highlights of the release.
