Let’s go Mediterranean, shall we?

Barcelona-based label Balearic Ensemble lands for the first time on our platform featuring the remixed versions of Residentes Balearicos' "Simplemente Cachonda", EP previously released in July. Gallo, LuVa (Lukkas + Da Silva, label owner), and Residentes themselves let the creativity juice flow wildly and freely to provide interesting (re)interpretations of the beautiful originals.

We were solicited to premiere Gallo’s remix, the man behind Berlin’s long-running Balearic club night Buena Onda. "His rework of 'Cachonda'", wrote Mikey Sibson on the PR text, "shuffles along a half-lit beachfront on the precipice between night and day, a low-slung beat carried through by an orchestra of warblers and songbirds soaking up the last rays of sunlight. A breezy, piano-led ode to life in the slow lane".

And we agree with Mikey: Gallo’s version does take you to places! While you listen to it, don’t forget to have in hand a cold beverage, preferably a gin tonic with a small slice of orange peel inside.

From the cosmos of Stretford on the outer realms of Manchester comes the kaleidoscope view of the world according to Psychederek and it's an explosive trip of shoe gaze soaked balearica on this super limited vinyl release!

Lead track Screamadereka heads straight into orbit from the get go with a stop off to thank the likes of The Cocteau Twins & Death In Vegas for their influence along the way. Huge drums, spaced out synths, warped guitars & a fully charged love in style vocal all wrapped up in a mushroom flavoured microdot with a pretty empowering finale.

I'm Alright steps up the ante a bit more and goes all Tomorrow Never Knows on us but with added warehouse acid squelch & rasps throbbing out from a beat that is broken (but not break beat!) whilst still retaining the psychedelic tendencies of its predecessor.  

Sean Johnston steps off the ALFOS rocket ship and joins forces with Duncan Gray for their Hardway Bros Meet Monkton Disco Dub take of Screamadereka and the result is a hive of cosmic mutant disco brilliance whilst Manchester's finest 6 piece See Thru Hands turn I'm Alright into bombastic focused UKG style wig out duet complete with new vocal takes by DNCN for seriously wonky floors & like minded souls.

For the digital release there is also an extra helping from Hardway Bros & Monkton where they ramp up the wonk factor & go even more horizontal than the original!

Limited vinyl release comes with an incredible exclusive insert drawn by Manchester local artist Emma Evans and features a visual interpretation of the Space Arcade E.P.

This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end

Citizens Of Vice racks up release number Thirty Two and for this EP we have the oh so excellent ‘Bonnie & Klein’. The greek duo will be familiar to fans of the label following a multitude of releases on like minded labels inc Music For Dreams, Leng and Nu Northern Soul.

‘Bourbon Street' is the release in question and features two new tracks ‘Bourbon Street' and 'Lobby Love'. Both tracks are beautifully constructed balearic delights. If you close your eyes and are of a certain age these could sonically transport you back to the late 80’s on a certain island.

On the remix front we have two of our favourite producers adding their own ideas to the OG’s. Coyote and Rayko who have both released and remixed on COV are back with their remix caps on and shake up the originals with their uniques flavours.

LARA GQLD is a DJ, Music Producer and Audio Engineer and Classically Trained Vocalist who toured with the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. She then went on to receive her Bachelors Degree in Entertainment Business and Audio Engineering at Full Sail University. She later held residencies in Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, San Francisco, San Diego, Orlando, and toured in Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Her commitment to music has been a lifelong journey and her passion for music has been burning before she could even speak. 

Lara produces electronic dance music, with a focus of layering her own etherial, soulful and harmonic vocals over Deep House, Progressive Trance, Jazz, Synthwave, Darkwave, Minimal, Downtempo, Nu Jazz, Tech House, Breakbeat, Indie Dance, Acid House, Liquid Drum N Bass, Neurofunk, Dubstep, Chill, Atmospheric, Electro and many more sub genres of electronic music.
