I recorded this mix as a practice for a recent 'Simply Vinyl' event in Brighton and made it the mission to not touch the platter at all during the recording, just coasting with the pitch slider. It involves a lot of tunes from when I was learning my trade.  I hope you enjoy x

A Tanuki (Japanse Raccoon dog) is a supernatural figure and real existing animal, significant in Japanese folklore since ancient times. The legendary being is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a trickster, a spook and a shapeshifter that has the ability to take possession of others. Often when mysterious occurrences appeared it was believed to be the work of the Tanuki. He became subject of various rituals and is associated with many local legends and places all over Japan. 
His trickery is legendary: it is said he would block people’s paths at night though creating wall-like structures, fool others through mirages, selling leaves from trees that appear as gold, turning dung into dinner and are capable of producing thunder and rain. On moonlight nights when the weather is clear he drums his belly. Gathering every now and then to dance around shrines and fields under the moon.
Today in modern Japan his image has shifted from a frightening mysterious creature into a generous and often amusing cheerful fellow - often present as ceramic statues outside bars and restaurants.
The modern Tanuki became a cute icon for wealth and prosperity. He is appropriated by Japan’s commercial interest and appears, besides his well-known Shikagari ware statue, in cartoons, comic books and movies. Even in video games such as Nintendo’s Super Mario. His traits like the big belly, large scrotum, sake bottle with promissory note (which he never pays) and straw hat were reinterpreted and co-opted into what is called Tanuki’s Eight Virtues which is supposed to bring good fortune: He often has a bewildered, smiling, often goofy looking expression, wide eyes, a big tummy and a curious looking giant scrotum. The Tanuki transformed from a wild, often feared creature with trickster traits and knowledge of magic to a more domesticated cheerful and beloved being who is beneficial to humans bringing prosperity and success. Either way they have not lost their mystifying love for music. In certain moonlight nights you can sense them dance to the beat of their drums going “ponpoko pon pon“.

Gahabbi and Vektor Equilibrium is a duo that made their Ozorian debut in 2015 but they are already known for blasting a full house Pumpui dancefloor, not once but twice last year, with their bouncy trippy take on what proper nighttime psy music is about – no breakdowns needed! So it’s no wonder they’re returning and this radiOzora set is just a taste of what’s coming your way this summer.

Vektor Equilibrium
Viktor Szabó a.k.a. Vektor Equilibrium showed infinite passion for music at the early age of 3 when his family’s hi-fi system went out of order and he came up with the idea to cure it by opening the cassette deck’s door, putting in pills, pouring a big glass of water inside to get the machine functioning again.
Wonders happen, but not that time.
The love of music comes from his father who was a self-taught drummer in a local rock band in the southern part of Hungary.
Being around and during rehearsal/gigs all the time an unexplainable and unstoppable smile crept on his face whenever he heard loud music.
At the age of 15 it was time to get involved in playing the drums and studying music seriously. The next couple of years were spent as part of several bands in various genres (from metal, ska, rock&roll to funk, reggae) playing on stages all over Hungary and Europe.
As a drummer he always enjoyed playing along drum&bass records and that’s how he slowly started to fall in love with the electronic side of the spectrum.
In spring 2012 the next evolutionary step occurred when he got in touch with psychedelic trance music after his beloved brother ’kroko’ showed him the door to a whole new undiscovered side of vibrations. Next year he visited Ozora Festival , which changed everything.
After the festival kroko got a pair of CDJ-100 and they used to hang out together mixing trance for the sake of pure joy. By this time he had also made new contacts, met new friends and ended up surrounded by Dj-s and a circle of friends connected by the same passion for music.
The first DJ performance happened to be at a 2014 NYE private party in collaboration with Gahabbi and the experience of DJ-ing was a life changing event for him, feeling true euphoria, something he had never experienced on stage before.
In 2015, led by this kind of energy, they performed at Samsara Festival(Hu) and then a real dream came true (while the previously experienced gigantic euphoria multiplied by millions in front of a full dancefloor) when they played at Ozora Festival’s Pumpui Stage.


Gahabbi
Gábor Szundi aka Gahabbi came in contact with electronic music at the age of 14 and spent the next few years trying to find his place, checking out what the Budapest party scene had to offer. After 4 years of listening to drum ’n’ bass, he bought his first accessories for DJ-ing and started experimenting with playing music. He didn’t find it too interesting though until he got enchanted by progressive house and techno thanks to his older brother and his friends. After collecting music for 2-3 years he played his first progressive-house set at a private party in 2014 under the name of Sundi Jr., after his brother Sundi. That summer he visited O.Z.O.R.A for first time. It was enough to make him fall in love with the progressive and psytrance genres and it’s also when and where he met a new friend, Viktor aka Vektor Equilibrium. At the end of the year they played their first set together at a private New Year’s Eve party. In 2015 they continued playing together at private and public events too, like the famous Chakacsütörtök in Budapest or at Tilos Rádió, Samsara Festival. In May 2015 they started the Independance radio show on Radiozora with the famous Fine Beats team featuring styles of progressive house and techno. In the summer of the same year, his big dream came true, playing twice at O.Z.O.R.A Festival with Vektor Equlibrium.
