things change so quickly, and you may never know where you'll be in a year or two, let alone how the world will be in less than that

this is a song i made last year, probably one of the only ones I made that is of full-length, and I felt like that was a testament of how life has been these past few years - and perhaps life had finally caught up to me, or I have lost my love for music or both.

i wish i didn't hold back so many of my releases over the years because of short-sighted, ambitious endeavors because i feel like i probably would have improved as an artist way more if i did - a streamline of ideas is way better than the unfulfilled promises, 6 unfinished albums, and friendships lost over the last 10 years.

looking back now, I'm just left frustrated about what could have been - and the lasting impression that this shit isn't worth it anymore. The times caught up to me. All of my internet music heroes are all but gone. The internet music listening scene is no longer how it once was.

I know how brash and embarrassing it is to dump personal garbage onto a piece like this, but I always felt like it was strangely appropriate to the art - I always saw 'keyseeker' as a project, a journal of sorts told by woven stories. I felt like if there was a way to solidify the context in which we create as something we can look back on, we can understand and appreciate things more without falling knee-deep into the cynicism of how the modern audience digests art: there's only 3 ways we take in art these days: masterpiece, mid, trash. And that's the worst way to ever see the world.

I do appreciate y'all for sticking around. It's unfortunate that I still feel so burnt out these days about music and the surrounding community at large - so much so that I hardly listen to much newer music at all.

that being said, I do find this a bit of a cop out for announcing a "new song" when this song was finished for over a year and I just felt like it wasn't good enough. I'll dig up some more older songs and maybe finish some newer ones for a final demo compilation later this year. this will be my last music for a long while. I had so many ideas and stories to share through my music but I personally can't take the pain of lost opportunities, unfinished projects, skill issues, software limitations, and FOMO anymore. i'll be focusing on other things in life after this.

thank you for 10 years of keyseeker. I don't know how else to say this but I really did appreciate everything from everyone. from every message or comment, to every shared experience in between.

I'm sure I lost so many people along the way. But for those unfamiliar, we will end it the same way we started - by quitting when it felt like things had just begun.

Hello! 

Sorry for the extended absence. The hiatus was not something I planned, or even something I really noticed happening. Sometimes 4 years just go by without you noticing, I guess. The two songs I am uploading are not new material, just different versions of two old songs - two of my favourites. 

From 2020 to 2022 I was making music more actively; about 2 hours of music (including an entire album) has been sat 75% finished since then. I could just never push past that last 25% on those songs, for many different reasons. Since 2022, pretty much all of my creative energy (unfortunately a limited resource these days, although it’s still doing better than my social energy levels to be sure) has been going towards writing rather than music. Again, not an intentional choice to abandon music or anything, things just happened that way. More specifically, I’m writing a fantasy novel, which I am currently calling ‘Everwidow’. Currently just under halfway done with 180 pages, although to my annoyance the story keeps presenting me with new things to write about far beyond what I initially expected, so that may increase. There won’t be many updates on that for quite some time I expect, but it has been my main focus for a few years now. As for music, I don’t know whether I will finish any of those older songs, or completely wipe the slate clean and start fresh with new music and a new name when the time comes. 

I know this little update doesn’t amount to much, but just wanted to say that I’m alive, working on something (if not music currently), and that there will be music again at some indeterminable time in the future. These last 4 years have had more significant change happen in my life than anything that came before it, so thank you for granting me that time to adjust.
If you’re reading this, I hope you’re doing well, and know that I deeply appreciate the fact you’re listening to the songs and reading this at all after 4 years of silence. These two uploads are for you.
