Sitting at the more experimental-leaning fringe of the sound Bassiani has become synonymous with, Zesknel couldn’t care less about genres and classification; a notion his RYC mix recorded live at Bassiani exhibits to bewildering effect. Exploring the confines of "field recordings, FM synthesis, atmospheric ambience", which he translates into "harmonious noise and harsh rhythms », the Tbilisi-based vibist has been carving out a lane of his own. His blends, combining stretches of atmospheric minutiae, laser-guided programming and post-industrial murk, teleport their listener into a far-out bubble of sound where earthy laws do not apply and your whole body, down to its cellular level, throbs with a vital impulse to let go. Just like life itself, harsh and sweet, troubled at times yet continually mind-boggling. Breathe in, breathe out, and let Zesknel carry you away to his den in the sky.

Studio Club_Opening Set [01/08/25]

At the peak of our longest event to date on Saturday, January 18th 2025, a NYC-based selector stepped into the booth at Masada to tell a story: a journey of tension and release, brimming with emotion and passion, a romance that lingered in our memories long after. We are beyond thrilled to mark the 100th instalment of CLOSERcast with none other than Holden Federico’s live recording of his 3-hour Masada set, to immerse ourselves into that beautiful, graceful and moving experience once more.

Philly-born, New York-based producer and DJ Holden Federico is dedicated to reimagining techno by pushing its core elements to bold new extremes. His productions carry a driving low-end energy, rich thematic layers, and dub-infused detailing, all underpinned by grit and soul. As a DJ, he weaves together diverse textures, thoughtful pacing, and a deep respect for techno’s roots, shaping a modern dancefloor experience that balances the physical with the emotional.

A relentless force in the underground, Batman has been shaping dancefloors since first stepping behind the decks just at his 16. Rooted in the raw power of Acid Techno. 

His early sets at CROSSED in Szczecin propelled him onto some of Europe’s most iconic stages, from London’s legendary 414 in Brixton to Union in Vauxhall, as well as countless free parties across the UK’s rave underground. Over two decades, his sound has shifted from fierce 303 driven intensity to deep, hypnotic grooves that captivate and transport. 

Along the way, he has shared the booth with scene heavyweights including Sterling Moss, Aaron Liberator, Patrick DSP, Bad Boy Pete, Billy Nasty, Jeff Amadeus and more cementing his reputation as a true torchbearer of the underground spirit.

Fast. Impulsive. Techno. Three words to establish and define what the artist known as Egotot is all about. The young musician, hailing from the deep south of Germany, sets quite the pace when it comes to his vision of electronic music, regarding both tempo as well as quality. His beats, be in the studio or in the DJ booth, appear to come and arrange themselves seemingly with no effort. A Rave-infected sonic testing ground without ever feeling like a simple Rave pastiche. A vision of Techno that is obviously inspired by its sound of the 90s, but neither exceedingly aggressive, nor excessively happy.

Egotot has a special taste for rugged, up-tempo grooves which demand their own time to breathe and reveal their power. A sonic all-purpose weapon to be used on, for, and by the dance floor. However, his sense for music doesn’t stop at the edge of dancefloor-oriented Rave. It goes far beyond, right to and through the sometimes more and sometimes less subtle tides of electronic music.

This exemplarily reflects in his very own imprint, Schimmer Records, which he founded in 2019. The label has, in a rather short period of time, already evolved to a sonic reservoir of all different shades, all of which share a commonality – quality in production, love to detail, and an undeniable appeal to avid devotees of electronic music of all kinds. 

There is nothing confusing about Egotot’s take on music. It is clean-cut, it is straightforward, it is always effective. The Industrial clout, the fast groove, the merciless rigor – this is how Techno should sound in the 21st century, and Egotot is its perfect avatar.
