Break, DLR & Randall - Song And Dance

Teaming up again with the master of Junglist Vocals – MC Fats and employing the classic soulful vibes of legend Cleveland Watkiss, Break created a full vocal single, with both artists featuring on
both sides. We Are The People weaves mellow and uplifting piano chords with a strong verse from Cleveland, switching to Fats for his lick to cut into a heavy drop. Weighty wobbling Jungle subs, peppered with warm synth bass melodies carry this summery roller through, with both vocalists complimenting each others flavours stylishly. A blissed out dreamy breakdown gets you chilled for a switch back to the second drop bassline, going low and long with the subs. A chilled summery feel good vibe, with some backbone!

Midnite Classic, rolling in a heavy reggae skank loop for the intro sets a great backdrop for Cleveland's very catchy lyrics and melody. Switching to Fats for a minimal DnB build up and dropping with his renowned vocal style cutting over the bassline on a Junglist style drop. A classic old skool feeling but still with a fresh modern edge, this is an addictive club tune, capturing raw vibes that are always needed in the dance.

All in, it’s Ram’s most ambitious project to date.

The 25th year of Ram’s history is looking to be its most memorable yet. Both musically and through their major city UK tour dates, Ram’s versatile roster is still being pushed to new borders. Quarter of a century on and the record label is as strong as ever.

Ahead of his upcoming, star-studded next album Carnal Mind, Brazilian producer L-Side is teasing out one of its focal points in the MC Fats-assisted "High Times". As the whiplash-inducing beats rip through the snarling, grizzled bass, MC Fats delivers some melodic, uplifting vocals to smooth out the track's otherwise jagged edges. Elsewhere on the album (due April 6), there are appearances from Jeru The Damaja, DRS, Lady Chann, Darrison and MC Conrad, all iconic rave MCs in their own right.

To get all those artists in the same place is achievement enough, but "High Times" hints at an album that is more than the sum of the guest appearances.

Having released his highly anticipated ‘Zen’ EP earlier in 2020 on Hospital Records, Unglued continues his explosive ascension with a jaw-breaking four-track follow up: ‘Total XTC’. With roots cemented in jungle, breaks and hardcore, Unglued injects his signature bassline badness into each tearout track, topped with euphoric classic house samples in the title track ‘Total XTC’, to hair-raising vocals from Truthos Mufasa in ‘War Dance’ featuring Whiney.

Total XTC fires us through a prism of late 80s nostalgia with pitched-up soulful vocal samples from Charvoni’s feel-good classic house groover ‘Always There’. Dreamy pads and playful vintage notes set the scene. Soothingly sustained vocals swim over raw, metallic, jungle-infused drums that introduce the sub-destroying drop. A certified rave anthem that will have all the heads entranced.

‘War Dance’ raises adrenaline as Manchester-based Truthos Mufasa lays down slick and weighty bars that ricochet off skippy old skool-style drums right in the eye of the storm. Together, Unglued and Whiney conjure up bass-rumbling chaos as we’re pushed ‘right off the tracks’ with double-barrelled artillery in the heat of battle.

Charging in with twisted swagger, ‘Got 2 Have’ is a squelchy bass-ridden stepper that screams Unglued all over. While ‘Pigeon Funk’ swoops in and stares you down with electrically-charged squarks and funk-fuelled flare. 

Introduced to jungle at an early age by his influential uncle Stoppy, Unglued demonstrates his ability to simultaneously stick and unpick these roots in his powerfully dynamic ‘Total XTC’ EP by fusing the old-skool style with his unique, forward-thinking flair. 

Unglued’s rise since his anthemic ‘If We Ever’ remix, has brought in over a hundred intercontinental shows since 2019, and regular support from some of the biggest players in the game, including Andy C, Noisia and Randall. Unglued is no stranger to spins on national airwaves, with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac awarding him Hottest Record In The World for ‘Born In 94’, as well as regular support from Rene LaVice and Charlie Tee on Kiss Fresh. His trusted skills have been reigned in to remix seminal drum & bass classics including Shy FX’s ‘Bambaata’, Die’s ‘Clear Skyz’, Commix’s ‘Talk to Frank’ and Ram Trilogy’s ‘Gridlock’ as well as Bloc Party’s UK top-5 hit ‘The Prayer’.

Equally praised for his DJ skills, Break maintains a consistent touring schedule that sees him playing across the globe on a weekly basis on the stages of the world’s biggest drum & bass institutions; from Fabric, Detonate, Bedlam, Warning, Metalheadz and Hospitality in the UK to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the breadth of Europe, playing headline shows or back2back sets with the likes of Die, Goldie and Dillinja.

Launching his own label, Symmetry Recordings in 2006, Break honed and polished his sound with each single and released his fist album, also entitled ‘Symmetry’ in 2008. Featuring forays into ambient, dubstep, funk, hip hop, house and soul amongst an arsenal of sure-fire drum & bass, ‘Symmetry’ earned Break an army of new fans from outside the d&b world with tracks picked up by the likes of techno legends Laurent Garnier and Josh Wink. 

Two years later Break has risen the bar further still via his second LP; ‘Resistance’. Featuring collaborations with No U-Turn mastermind Nico, Bristol’s DJ Die, super-duo Calyx & Teebee, DNAudio cohorts Silent Witness and Survival, Shogun Audio’s SpectraSoul and vocalists Kyo and SP:MC, the album offers a glorious journey through the spectrum of Break’s styles and influences and a clear indication of where his talents will lead him next.
