"Monday Give Me Monday" showcases Art Feynman's signature grooves, krautrock slink, and staccato bounce, all captured on his trusty four-track cassette recorder.

Earlier this summer, Art Feynman released his debut full-length album Blast Off Through the Wicker and toured the US with Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier. Pitchfork describes him as "a cool purveyor of coked-out dub-kraut." Consequence of Sound calls his debut a "funky, psychedelic slice of afro-pop" and Tiny Mix Tapes regards it as an "analog masterpiece."

In 2018 Art Feynman will return with his sophomore LP that takes us even further into his motorik and afrobeat inspired world of sound.

Singer/musician/producer Aisha Chaouche is set to release debut album 'Safe', a deeply emotional document of heartbreaking and spine tingling hymns that have helped bring peace to traumatic events experienced earlier in her life. Her delicate piano playing features prominently and is bolstered by balanced production of her own massed vocals, programmed drums, sub-bass, cello, violin and an obsession with reverb and delay.

Her music has been described as “heartbreaking and spine tingling hymns” by Wonderland Magazine, “channelling the hymnal qualities of Cat’s Eyes with the dense vocals of Medúlla-era Björk” by The Line of Best Fit and a “songwriter of real strength and subtlety” by Clash. Bristol Live Magazine has hailed her "the city’s most exciting new act". Support has also come from BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, saying she'd played her "on a loop all week" and Radio 1's Huw Stephens who's called her music “beautiful".

Analog Africa return with another batch of wildly original Vodoun-inspired funky bliss from Benin. The West African country was busting out domestic pressings of heavy dancefloor shakers through the 60s and 70s and African Scream Contest 2 collects some of the most explosive of this wave. Label head Samy Ben Redjeb went straight to the source for these cuts, tracking down artists with the help of a former KGB agent who also happened to be in one of the hottest Afrobeat bands of the time. Luckily this sleuthing was focused on a positive goal, helping to revive this bubbly bouncer from Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou and thirteen other stellar songs. Frosty premiered ‘Moulon Devia’ on Open End, his world-whirling weekly Red Bull Radio program. Tune-in every Monday for more!

African Scream Contest 2

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Moulon Devia [Open End Premiere]

Recorded entirely on vintage analogue recording equipment packed into a disused garage in Leeds, the LP features the vocal talents of Gospel-inspired Soul singer Rachel Modest. Taken from The Magnificent Tape Band's forthcoming debut LP “The Subtle Art Of Distraction”, 'Danger' lays down an ominous groove with tuff hooks and a powerful vocal performance from Rachel Modest. 

The Magnificent Tape Band are the alter egos of ATA Records founders Neil Innes & Pete Williams, who were the creative driving force behind the debut album by The Sorcerers, for which they wrote and produced all the tracks as well as contributing bass and guitar performances. Sheffield born, Rachel Modest developed her unique vocal ability within the churches and gospel choirs of her local community. Now based in Leeds, she has developed a powerful and soulful vocal style that takes inspiration from artists such as Madeleine Bell, Dee Dee Warwick, Dusty Springfield and at times delivers a performance that resembles the falsetto of The Delfonics' William Hart.

Taking inspiration from the more abstract end of the Soul spectrum that has been a richly tapped vein for Hip-Hop producers, The Magnificent Tape Band aim to create an evocative tapestry of sound that pulls together Psychedelic Soul with British Library Music to create a distinctly dramatic sounding record. Recorded on original '60s equipment, using vintage instruments, "The Subtle Art Of Distraction" immediately brings to mind the more experimental Psychedelic Soul records of the late '60s and early '70s by incorporating a driving clavinet, loping drums, swirling organ, and vintage Mellotron alongside Rachel Modest's ethereal and powerful vocals.

The record is definitely one to watch out for if you're a fan of the Big Crown Records catalogue, The Sorcerers, Mulatu Astatke, or any form of Soul-inspired Hip-Hop.

'Mantra Moderne' is a stunning, contemporary masterpiece that fuses Anatolian Psychedelia, Brazilian Tropicalia, 60’s European pop and American jazz. A must for fans of Khruangbin, Portishead, Arthur Verocai, Goat, Caetano Veloso, Tom Zé, Os Mutantes, Cortex and co.

The duo is formed of Kit Martin, who lives between London and France and plays all instruments on the album, and Merve Erdem, vocalist and multi-disciplinary artist from Istanbul, now based in London. This is their debut album.

The album explores universal themes such as love, loss, decay, language and ideology, mixing three different languages: English, Turkish and French. Written and recorded by the duo - Kit composed all the songs and Merve wrote the lyrics - in rural France during 2018, each song was completed within a 12-hour window, pawning contemplation for spontaneity.

Dubbed by Kit and Merve as ‘lo-fi-hi-fi’ in reference to the high-end tube equipment that helped it find its way to 8-track cassette tape. The style owes its sound to narrow tape width, valve distortion, spring reverb, the mixture of high end gear with lo-fi equipment as well as a disregard to the norms of hi-fi studio techniques. All instruments were analogue and no samples were used. The instruments that are used range from tablas to darbukas, balalaikas to ouds, MS20 synths to Farfisa organs and a lot of cuica. The mixing techniques were done on-the-fly, tracking immediately to tape: compression, EQ, delay and reverb; meaning mixing could not be revisited!

The deluxe edition of ‘Mantra Moderne’ features two previously unreleased tracks - ‘Kozmos' and 'Rain (باران)’. It also includes remixes of album tracks from Baris K, Halal Cool J, and Natureboy Flako (who also contributes an unreleased cover version of ‘Senden Baska’).
