For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

Another beautiful moment looped between the past, present and future at The Block Tel Aviv reminding me once again that the foundation of our scene, the club dance floor, should not be forgotten.  The night was a perfect synchronous moment between the audience and I, immersed together in warm frequencies emanating from a sound system impeccably curated by the clubs owner.  Nights like this, where we all disappear into the darkness together are what bought me to the dance floor in the first place. I put the bones of this tune together in a hotel room while road tripping between gigs in Arizona earlier this year, feeling super inspired by the west coast clubs I’d been playing at. The vocals were written and recorded while sick in bed, using my tour manager's iPhone earbud microphone and a doona cover as my vocal booth. At the time I had planned on replacing the demo with a cleaner take when I got home to Australia, but I was never able to recreate something as gritty and weird... so it stayed! It's been slaying it for me ever since, I hope it slays for you guys too ❤️🙌🏼

After an incredible CLOSE Tour in Paris, Glasgow and London we are leading into another crazy week, the annual Amsterdam ADE conference.  This year is a special one for me as I’ll be doing a special extended set on Friday October 19th  for Loveland's new All-Nighters concept at Warehouse Houthavens, which gives me plenty of time to weave in and out of lots of special sounds, frequencies and rhythms.  To get you through the week here is the recording of my BPM festival set from just a few weeks ago, which will surely get you in the mood and give you a taste of what to expect on Friday night!

With international momentum, Tale and Tone continues the charge of releases featuring unique genre-benders with story and groove. With two collaborations, the Synergy EP is the result of great minds and hearts coming together in the studio.
The first track needs little introduction. Formentera has been a staple tune Lee Burridge’s sets - and has become the most train-spotted tune in Tale and Tone’s history. Not surprising, as this one is truly unlike anything else - a true original born from a collaboration between established artists Edu Imbernon and Los Suruba. 
The percussive groove is joined by sweeping arps and melodies that can touch the soul. Formentera is a pinnacle of production that shifts and elevates dance music, giving us a glimpse of what music can be.

"Inside The Univack" is the title of the periodical Various Artist EP compilation that Univack release each one or two years.

With this vol.5 Univack wants to bring a resume of the musical spirit that drive the label. Wide range of Melodic and Progressive club music, from deep and electronica to house and techno. QuiQui (Traum, Manual Music, Aftertech) aka Jeroen Wiggers opens the EP with "Bloody Moon", a Leftfield Melodic Techno track close to the pure Electronica, with complex melodic and percussive elements and a complete analogical taste. Is a great pleasure to have the french producer in our label, who already release an artist EP in our beginnings.

Another known of our label, the spanish duo WO-CORE (Steyoyoke, Beatfreak, Dear Dee) presents their "Last To Piano", a strong and powered Melodic Techno track with a solid groove and memorable melodic sequence, perfect for the hottest moments of the night.

The argentinian Martin Bernini continues the EP with his "Disorder", a Progressive House track with plenty of organic sounds, pads and vocals, directed through a beautiful and hipnotic journey wich is helped with its nice groove.

The also argentinian Teleport-X (Droid9, Welcome!) presents us his "Yamila". A deep, organic and progressive house piece which will wake up our most emotional feelings in the dance floor. Perfect for a sunset or a dawn.

The Frech producer Atribút (Armada, SONY, FSOE) joins forces with canadian singer Denis Commie to make this beautiful "Back On Top". A track between Progressive House and Melodic House, with the sweet taste of classic hyms.

Evegrem (Freegrant Music, Soundteller) close the EP with this "Serenity", which bring us an emotional calm with its several harmonic elements. Another track between Progressive House and Melodic Techno that shows the great potential of this young argentinian producer.

'Sync Forward returns to present its 49th release, featuring the debut of Belgian DJ and Producer - Yeröm - with his brand new EP entitled "Anomaly" which includes heavy-duty remix action by Portuguese duo Remotion.

The first track, entitled 'Anomaly', is a superb pulsating track, featuring contextualized drum rhythms, heavy percussion, and progressive melodic chords, setting it as one of the most promising releases.

Up next is "Suave", a brilliantly engineered production, with its slightly off marked percussion, rolling bass, and old-school techno chords. Exquisite, superlative rawness it took us by surprise at the studios.

To finish this package, label owners Remotion delivered a beautiful rework of "Anomaly", filled with rumbling synths and a powerful low end, making sure that it will knock out even the most knowledgeable techno listeners.

Undoubtedly another quality EP, sealing Yeröm's debut release on the label.'

Out of golden summer tones and autumnal harvest, Dmitry Molosh emerges through the "Orchard". From the broad banks of the Mukhavets River, beautiful sonic timbres create a rich sonic hue that glitters in sparkling sunlit patterns. A smooth bassline cadence fills the musical canvas as wonderful shards reveal themselves in sultry percussive rhythms and an exalted air of triumph oozes from every bar.

Dutch mastery from Kasper Koman reveals a new path within the familiar patterns of the "Orchard". A perfectly weighted backdrop provides the foundation for new melodies to emerge from the rhythmic bed. A spine-tingling bass progression reveals a crisp and crunchy new flavour. The golden age of the underground lost and found within an industry icon. Kharkhiv and Karlsruhe joined together by a single thread finds musical cross-pollination via Tantum and Arude. Grown out of storming bassline groove, smooth melodies blossom as delayed arpeggios echo through the trees.

A returning legend, Rauschhaus once again showcases a powerful performance with gentle touch and skill. Fresh melodies emerge from the branches of the "Orchard" to create a delicious aural flavour that shimmers with glissando freedom, while detailed layers expose perfectly formed harmonic phrases that create a sumptuous dancefloor accent.

We've finally said goodbye to the year 2020 and are finally ready to kick off the new year 2021 with our release 031.

We're happy to have another artist making his debut with our label which will always be the home for any kind of underground melodic Progressive.
In fact, this is what to expect from Inger's single called Natural Selection: a deep dark groovy track that will give the proper energy to your set. And that's not all as you will be surprised by the way the main breakdown evolves. Atmospheric vocals, euphoric tranzy pads will lift your mood up.

We thought this tune deserved a few other interpretation that could bring out both the main melodic part and its dark groove.
Thus, we've got two outstanding remixes lined up for you which will turn things to another level of darkness.

Morttagua needs no further presentation as he's still leading the Brazilian progressive scene thanks to a plethora of stunning productions done both on his label Timeless Moment and on other top-labels.
Expect a club banger, we cannot really describe it differently than that: it is for sure a belter of a track and we're delighted to see Morttagua back again with another monster remix.


Isaak Escamilla too makes his very much appreciated return and, once again, he does by providing with an elegant deep re interpretation of the original. Progressive House to the top level if you ask us, without conforming too much to the mainstream trends. Look no further if you're searching for a real Progressive House tune with sexy vibes, to give more depth to your DJ sets.
