after we publishes the last sub.pod.98, we found out, that the artist (quincy ortiz)was steeling complete sets from other djs and so the complete playlist from tony rivera. we immediately threw him out of subspiele and gave the number 98 to the real artist behind the podcast. he made a special set for us. thank you tony for your realness.


subspiele: why did you call the mix “realness”? 
tony rivera: I think all DJ's must be proud of his talent and his capabilities. The mix is called "realness" because I did just like if I was playing in somewhere with a croud in front of me, although I've recorded it in the back yard of my house. As in real life, the mix was recorded in one shot with no editions and maybe contains some errors proper of a live performance, but it is real and sincere. It was driven by my emotions and I've selected the tracks that reflected in a better way that feelings.

subspiele: where did you record the mix?
tony rivera: As I said before, the mix was recorded in the back yard of my house. My wife and my dog were witness of my performance :-)

subspiele: which is the song that you recently liked the most?
tony rivera: Madpac - Angry nerds (Original Mix). It has the emotion and the peaceful that I search in a track.

subspiele: how do you feel now?
tony rivera: Great! I'm making homemade pizzas and listening to some deep house vibes!

subspiele: how should it go on?
tony rivera: Every day has some teachings and I like to evaluate them before I go to sleep. Maybe I will do that with a pizza slice and a beer.

Musically speaking, dub techno has a haunting, haunted, tripped out site of memorial exploration where everything sounds half-remembered, half-there and half-real. The genre is akin to ambient music, in that music of both genres acts as background music on purpose. The best tracks in the dub techno genre do what little it does amazingly, in that every element in the mix is given breathing space and, accordingly, takes on a sense of the organic.

orbit: I try not to stand still, and to develop in different musical directions that are interesting to me. Soon I'll writing a series of new mixes, in an experimental style for me.

subspiele: why did you call the mix "Gaia”?
Luijo: I wanted to create this particular project a very long time ago. It includes both audio and visuals. It is called “Gaia” as a reference to Mother Earth’s beauty. This offers you a pretty good idea of the journey’s mood: both light and dark paths as the music enmeshes the ambient.

subspiele: where did you record the mix?
Luijo: I recorded the mix in my studio in Santo Domingo, but not all the execution of the set was done here. The track and vinyl selection was carefully done in a mountain house owned by my friend Mike, located in Jarabacoa, La Vega, Dominican Republic, which is the site showed at the video. It helped me create a link between the actual mood I wanted to transfer with the music and the scenery.

Subspiele: which is the song that you recently liked the most?
Luijo: There is so much music I can’t really tell which tune I am currently liking the most, but in this project the song: Tomas Rubeck – Factions by ESHU Records, stands out in distinction. This deep techno record settles down as the mood specifier of the journey.

subspiele: how do you feel now?
Luijo: I feel fantastic, eager to start new music-based projects I have been planning along. This year I’ll be traveling around Europe and North America, playing, searching for new material and nurturing my inspiration. Also, I’ll keep collaborating with Arcticgrooves, Subspiele Records and some international radio stations and record labels accordingly with more mixes and productions.

subspiele: how should it go on?
Luijo: To keep sharing more music with the biggest humility possible is always my way to go on.
