“Music to me is a snippet of a moment in time from that artist’s life” speaks 25 year old Oxford based producer, Portway. “Replicating that is the most difficult part.”

As difficult as Portway makes out, his productions never fail to manifest then manipulate the listeners every emotion, slowly guiding you on the same personal pathway which crafted the tracks initial idea. This is the strongest form of artistic connection. To not only achieve this, but to replicate it, is why we are presenting to you, Synchronicity’s forthcoming release.

“Get You” is a truly stimulating production, every aspect subconsciously drawing more attention until you’re hooked in the tracks impassioned nature. Reverbed, pitched vocal hooks twist and turn amongst the classically sorrowful piano to create a soothing environment for the listeners mind to lose itself. As the journey continues, the once delicate piano takes on an aggressive persona, the vocals become ever lower and the crumbling clap lengthens until our once idyllic state is shattered by the grounding, modernised kick and then all is seemingly lost. The journey is captivating whilst devastating, and the message that all can be lost is undoubtedly powerful.

Accompanying “Get You” is the almost emotionally juxtaposing production, “Dust It’. The title alone reveals the continuation of your previous journey. Following from the end of “Get You”, “Dust It” begins with sombre pads and similar pitched vocals which give a mellow ambience. However, as the production continues, the pads rise in vibrancy until joined by the rhythmic percussive taps which increase the tempo and build to the introduction of warm sub bass and gentle beat until climax is reached. The gentle uplifting nature of “Dust It” reminds the listener that light at the end is inevitable, which brings the whole of Portway’s 2 track EP round in full circle.
