During 2013's summer solstice full moon, thousands of dancers, artists, and family gathered to celebrate 20 years of magic with Southern California's beautiful Moontribe Collective. 

We are halfway to 2014's Solstice already -- so here's a something to spark those memories and reinvigorate this year's full moon hunger.

Spinning since early 2015, Hudson is a far-reaching bass music enthusiast – his dedication to drum & bass / jungle meets a critical taste for halftime beats, alongside forward-thinking bass, dub, grime and various UK sounds. Now residing in Calgary, Yetz was the black sheep of the Nelson-based Lost Boys Collective and a driving force behind the monthly Fershursday night at Shambhala’s Bloom Nightclub. Furthermore, he was the West Kootenay representative of the Fernie-based Kootenay Junglist Movement. Proving himself along the way with his unique selections and dedication to the music; Yetz’ set is not one to miss.

(Second Half)

Canadian-based Heymac continues to demonstrate the serene beauty that can be found within the Drum and Bass genre. Following his release on the ProgRAM 100: Software compilation he has released numerous songs with his signature driving drums and ethereal soundscapes with labels like 170+ Recordings, Bay 6 Recordings and Headsbass as well as his own self-releases such as his song Hamartia. Heymac continues to show the importance of melody and appreciating the moment in his songs and performances. In 2022, Heymac braved the cold to do a one-of-a-kind DJ set on a dog sled with the Rocky Mountains as his backdrop, which firmly presented his approach to atmosphere and art within Drum and Bass. As a DJ, Heymac has supported artists like Bensley, Rene Lavice, Pola & Bryson, Spectrasoul and many more.

Jazz-infused 140 bpm system music has been monopolizing our attention for some time now. Philadelphia-based producer/DJ backpack is obsessed with the music, too, and for the 28th installment of Rusted Rhythms he’s strung together a one-hour mix full of this emerging left field sound. He displays a discerning ear for selecting the sound and a strong hand for mixing it. Selections include tracks from Chord Marauders residents Jafu and Geode, as well as a buffet of selections from the innovative Smallprint Recordings imprint based in Brighton, UK. In addition to these top-of-class choices, Rusted Rhythms Vol. 28 offers perhaps the largest amount of original backpack music existing in one place to date. Each cut is weighty and impressive, including collaborations with other Philadelphia-based producers wiseyoungfool and 5AM which represents stylistic fusions. It’s not all system music, though. Stick around until the end to hear backpack round out the mix in style with tunes rooted in hip-hop, including one true classic.
