An 18-minute Prog Rock adventure into our past, present and future. This piece was conceived as a loving homage to Rick Wakeman’s 1974 Prog Rock classic, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, and the first part of a sci-fi tilogy called "Follow the Light". 

Yes, I know these retro long-form musical adventures are not going to be of interest to everybody (probably very few actually), but I enjoy big, bold musical adventures, and with the availability of virtual instruments, SynthV singers, and generated voice narration, I realized that I could give this one a shot. 

The music is a mix of Major, Minor, and Phrygian Dominant modes, with some classic Prog odd timing bits.

Journey to the Begining of Time

The final part in my "Follow the Light" trilogy. A full-on 20-minute sci-fi story about the ultimate journey of discovery. The story has been percolating in my head since watching 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time. The development of synthesized voices and narration, and VST orchestras finally made it possible to try to create it – as a musical. 

Featuring Synthesizer V Natalie and Saros, narration from Narakeet, and the Spitfire BBC Orchestra, it’s mostly in E Dorian mode, with a few borrowed notes and chords. Trying a mixture of orchestra and prog band keyboards and drums – something you might hear in a Broadway play or movie. Thanks for listening.
