With an uncompromising attitude and an aim to release high quality ambient and downtempo electronica, Synphaera Records have charged the fringes of the sonic arena armed with a vintage intergalactic glow and cutting edge pyrotechnics. Igloo Magazine caught up with Chris Bryant and Don Tyler, the two driving forces behind the young promising Californian label and its first project, Ascendant, to talk about inspiration, vision and some of the difficulties in operating a record label in 2016.

The 34th release on microCastle sees the long awaited re-issue of Grammy nominated producer Barry Jamieson's 'Stars'. The seminal track was originally recorded in 2002 shortly after Evolution disbanded and was subsequently released in 2004 under the alias of Invisible Inc. The track gained huge popularity when Sasha began opening many of his sets with the ambient version well over a year before the official release. The storied UK DJ also featured 'Stars' as the closing track on his famed 'New Emissions of Light and Sound' DVD soundtrack which saw Sasha, Barry and Charlie May win best original score at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival in the Extreme Sports film category. It's irresistible and emotionally charged melodies made it one of the most sought after pieces of music at the time and was accompanied by several club interpretations for the official release. John Digweed was also a huge supporter of the record and featured the 'Unbroken' Mix in many of his live and radio sets. For the reissue we have included the original ambient and original club versions which have been previously unavailable along with brand new remixes from label artists Charlie May and Guy J.

I was thinking about making a sort of series of these Tales(it all started with "Tale of a man who whispered to flowers"),ambient/chill tracks,with some kind of adventure atmosphere. Today's pure piano music here.. This is 932nd Piano Tanka of Piano Ten Thousand Leaves Project. The target number of this project is 4,536, which is the number of poetry included in "Manyoushuu"; Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves, which is the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry from 1400 years ago.  The lady in this photograph is a portrait of Princess Nukata who was one of the great female poets of her time; thirteen of her poems appear in the original Ten Thousand Leaves. She was a genius.. She is No.1 creator of Japan and I love her love songs.. : )
