In summer 2024, frontman Jesse Eisenbise took part in a Mountain Fever Records songwriter showcase at the Bluebird Café in Nashville, sharing the stage with many talented musicians. That night, he connected with Mason Via of Old Crow Medicine Show. Via admired Colebrook Road's song “The Caged Bird,” and Eisenbise was equally impressed by Via’s “Wide Open.” The two decided to collaborate and later at IBMA co-wrote “Wise Old Owl,” born from late-night anxieties, nocturnal imagery, and a touch of few owl hoots in the recording.
