Manchester DJ and Producer Simon Titchmarsh aka Sciran began like most DJs some 16 years ago with a small collection of vinyl, locked away for hours in his parents basement practising on a pair of beloved belt drive turntables. Some would later call this a right of passage for any beginning DJ.

“Electronic music has been in my blood since I first heard the Techno soundtrack from the video game Wipeout. When my school peers were listening to Offspring and Greenday, I was lost in a world of House and Trance compilation CDs from Ministry and Cream. I was fascinated by the soundscapes, the beats, the patterns, being taken on a musical journey.

I spent most of my youth working tirelessly to afford my monthly trips to HMV to buy the latest 12” releases. Saving up to buy my first set of turntables and a small PA took a long time, but eventually I migrated from playing the basement of my house to youth social club nights. It was hard work and gave me a solid foundation for my later years. The floors were bouncy, the records skipped, fights used to occur regularly, but I was concentrating so hard on the music that I didn’t care. The idea that I could affect a persons night, just by playing the right track at the right time was immensely fulfilling for me. I just knew I wanted to do this forever.”

With early influences from Sasha and Digweed, Sciran begun his long affair with House music in the Manchester music scene, regularly appearing for various events, including the international Techno jaggaunant Awakenings Festival MCR. Recognised as rising artist in Manchester, Sciran has been invited as a bi-monthly Resident DJ at the seminal underground minimal event and tech label; Anima, complimented with his monthly residency with the sublime techno event,Tekniq.

“I feel really honoured that Jini asked me part of Anima, coming from her it’s a huge compliment! Anima is about that pure underground deep house / techno experience, so I will get the chance to be a bit more experimental with the tracks I play, and give me the opportunity to grow not only as a resident but as an artist and producer. It’ll be the ideal testing ground for new productions and ideas.”

His foray into producing has developed a more matured approach to his musical output, allowing him to involve various styles and influences such as House, Tech House and Techno to compliment his DJing.

STEFAN KITS (DJ JEF), STOCKHOLM

Stefan Mikael Jef Kits is a minimal house Dj from Stockholm. Kits grew up in Spånga, an upper mid to low class area which is located in the heart of the capital's western suburbs.

Around 1992-93 he was introduced to hip-hop. Doing graffiti was unavoidable growing up in Spånga during the nineties, being surrounded by the current very violent, angry and radical youth, it was a less brutal way of fighting the system.
Hip-hop has pretty much been in his earphones since and has highly influenced Stefan's life. DJ-ing and turntables have always been natural elements. 

When he later discovered house music he rapidly grew a strong love for it and an inevitable urge to be at the decks experiencing the music at another level. 

He is recognized for his trippy and euphoric late night bomb sets, where to dance-off to a mix of minimal- tech- and deep-house, to funky 90's-house; always dyed with either that trippy vibe or taking-off onto a hell off a bad ass bass-line completing the hit-parade, filling dance floors all over around.
