JPS Grooves is a rebranding back to a much easier name for people to understand. Bottom line? I love making music, it's my passion. This Soundcloud is and has been my sketch board for years. I don't care if the songs are perfect or not, I make them all for you. I hope one of them reaches your soul and makes you feel something new or offers a new experience. I recently saw an interview of Miles Davis where he said "It takes a selfish person to be original." So...For you...I'm being selfish. And I hope you enjoy it!

Hello and thank you for dropping by.

Thank you very much to everyone who takes the time to listen, like and share my noises. I am extremely grateful. My apologies if I take a little while to respond to those that leave nice comments.

I like listening to music, making simple, tunes when I have time, and generally faffing about in an inefficient manner. Hopefully you might like something on offer here. 

I use a Hinkler Cigar Box guitar (about $30 from Aldi, great fun), a Flying V ukulele, a couple of old keyboards, other bits and bobs, and a Yamaha tenor saxophone.

New album Audio/Visual is now available exclusively on SC and BandCamp, featuring my favorite tracks from 2024-25. Releases to Spotify and other platforms on September 30th!

My genre influences include electronic, downtempo, lofi, experimental, rock, blues, indie, prog, post rock, ambient, synthwave, trip hop, and hip hop. 

My recent tunes are produced using Ableton Live, FabFilter suite plugins, and often feature synths like Pigments, Microfreak, and Minilogue XD. I'm also beginning to incorporate guitar a lot more!
 
Some of my major artist influences include Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, DJ Shadow, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, the Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, M83, Godspeed you Black Emperor!, Mogwai, Animal Collective, Nicolas Jaar, Dirty Projectors, Massive Attack, Björk, Dan the Automator, Del, the Gorillaz, Reggie Watts, Ween, Neon Indian, Tycho, Ott, Shpongle, Danger Mouse, Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse, the Books, and too many others to list here.

A noisy guitarist, jazz trained . I like all types of music especially improv of all types .

The world around us is inexorably changing and all this is happening not without the help of the human race, the Earth is our home and now it is not just a big anthill in outer space, but the starting point of the mind, from here and into distant worlds.
