New Wave Podcast 041: Das Booty

Das Booty pioneer Rory Kelly joins us on New Wave this week for a deep dive into his fun, daring collection. Rory found his true calling playing ghetto music after a revelation on the dancefloor itself. Having quickly developed his own formidable prowess behind the decks, he now looks to strengthen and promote fellow artists; in the shape of parties and the label. 

Although he has a wealth of experience as a raver, DJ and producer Rory's most successful venture has been with Das Booty. Dedicated to showcasing the sound he loves, he's been able to create not only a successful brand but also a cult following. The parties themselves embody everything that made Rory fall in love with the scene - fast weird music in a dark dingy setting. After a string of successful parties, booking the likes of Jerome Hill and The Dexorcist, Das Booty expanded their output by launching a label alongside Dave Strange. With a growing pool of talented artists they have collaborated with, their future is certainly looking strong.

We recently caught up with Rory to discuss the void clubs left on his social life, Jerome Hill's influence on his music, the lack of spaces in London and production problems.

Killekill House Trax is going strong - this time with a 4-tracker by the incredible Andreas Gehm. He sent us the music shortly before his death and said we could pick any of his artist names and his only condition was that the music was released on vinyl. Only after his death we realized that he had obviously already taken a decision then...
So we are releasing this record now as an homage to one of the most creative and funniest persons in the electronic universe of the last decade. The EP includes all his typical styles and ranges from hard jacking Acid House over weirdo Electro House to old school Chicago- leaning Piano House. A timeless record for all situations.
May you rest in peace, Andreas, and thanks for still rocking our floors, even when you are long gone!

artist and musician Franziska Lantz makes analog, experimental techno loaded with heavy distortion, raw emotion, thundering beats, stormy baselines, contorted singing and trippy atmospheres, turn up the volume, embrace the storm!
She runs Global Warming Records, her latest release, forming tropical cyclone, is a heavy double album of deep raver techno.
Since 2008 she has been producing DriftShift, a weekly radio show on Londons ResonanceFM, from where she is regularly broadcasting her electronic music experiments into space.
