Debuting on Progressive Dreams is Cosmaks, aka Maxime Robert from Rennes, France. Having made his mark on some of the most noteworthy imprints around in today's melodic progressive house scene, the french producer Cosmaks has made an undeniable name for himself and we at Progressive Dreams are delighted he joins our growing family.

His debut release with us named Solaris is a beautifully crafted melodic progressive house summer vibe track bursting full of warm, uplifting and energetic sounds. This gifted producer has delivered a multitude of amazing tracks over the years and this is on par with anything he has done before.

Markus Hakala is up on remix duty and does he deliver! This remix expresses itself as a standalone track, beautifully crafted, with wonderful melodic sounds, heavenly plucks and a rhythm that makes you want more.

The extensive and vivid musical palette of Blood Groove & Kikis is fully revealed on "Wonderland", their thrilling debut artist album. Over the last few years, the acclaimed Latvian duo have received global recognition for their work — ranging from peak-hour progressive trance to deep house — from the industry's leading producers and DJ's. You can now typically hear their latest tracks on the world's leading radio programs. In spite of this success, they continue to write visionary tracks, refusing to compromise their intelligent, deeply emotive, and exceedingly "musical" brand of electronica.

The listener needs to look no further than the album's opener, "Communication", to appreciate the broad range of sounds and genres that Blood Groove & Kikis continue to infuse into their work. The downtempo, world-music-inspired "Communication" intensely crescendoes, but never fully resolves, as if to fairly suggest that the "catharsis" is still to come. The second track in the album, "Velvet", is an homage to the "classic" melodic progressive house sound, for which Silk is most known. Blood Groove & Kikis offer their own stamp on this style, with additional lead layers and numerous side melodies. The lead chords of "Sweet Harmony" and "Chordplay" are rapturous; these cuts are followed by one of the album's standout tracks, "Sunlight", which perhaps best exemplifies the uplifting spirit of Blood Groove & Kikis's work.

The album pivots slightly on "Raindrops", which showcases the duo's deeper side, on which they have also built an international reputation. A sexy, late-night groove and funky guitar riff make this cut especially memorable. The title cut, "Wonderland", is presented next, featuring an almost overwhelmingly soulful and moving vocal by Richard J Aarden. The album's first single, "Free Like A Bird", is next in line, featuring first-time Silk contributor Victoria Ray; her heavenly voice perfectly suits the floating-on-air quality of Blood Groove & Kikis's instrumental.

The final quarter of the album features more exciting collaborations. Indonesian phenom LTN joins forces with Blood Groove & Kikis on "Both", which is also the subject of our most recent remix contest. Another renowned artist, Matt Fax, provides support on "Departure", the album's penultimate track. Both of these collaborations showcase the duo's more trance-influenced side and feature powerful lead themes, coupled with dancefloor-friendly grooves. Last but not least, Richard J Aarden makes his second vocal contribution on the ebullient "Afloat". The title alone is perhaps the most accurate one-word description of the listener's mood throughout the "Wonderland" journey. The album, as a whole, is a remarkable artistic achievement by Blood Groove & Kikis, master manipulators of mood and melody.

Globally acclaimed trance & progressive veteran Robert Nickson has been a leader in our scene for well over a decade. It has been our great honor to work with Robert in recent years, as he continues to contribute deeper progressive sounds to our imprint, under his RNX guise.

His latest EP includes a wonderful collaboration with Paul Mads, "Whatever," which first appeared (in mixed form only) on Shingo Nakamura's "Only Silk 03" compilation. A chilled progressive house groove and after-hours soundscape, highlighted by a jazzy keyboard motif, establishes a soothing and sensual mood. In the main break, we're met with an infectious vocal sample, which helps carry the more uptempo latter half of the track.

The B-side, "Joshua Tree," sinks into even deeper territory, especially in the opening build of the arrangement. We're met with ominous pads and a recurring, hypnotic lead synth line, setting the stage for a sonic revelation in the main break. Joshua Tree's rugged beauty is well documented by casual travelers and spiritual seekers alike; Robert depicts the "awakening" one can experience while hiking there in the form of a breathtaking symphony of synth layers in the song's climax.

Dutch label veteran Talamanca is back with a brand new EP, "Meditation," featuring two lush, deep-progressive house cuts. Jacob Henry and Tom Fall featured both tracks on their recent Silk Music Showcase 06 compilation.

"Meditation" takes off with strong percussion layers and other-worldly pads. Underneath, the bassline variations combined with subtle synth effects provide remarkable texture. As the song progresses, numerous captivating synth elements build atop the already mesmerizing soundscape.

In "The Underground," prominent bassline notes quickly emerge, which, together with intriguing percussion stems, establish a strong groove. Later, a light theme lead appears, which goes remarkably well with the spellbinding bassline notes and background arpeggio layers.

We have another return on the label this week as longtime friend of the label, French native Cosmaks makes his way back to Progressive House Worldwide. As always, we are excited to see him make his way back inside our PHW family as he’s been a producer we always have had an admiration for.
