In anticipation of Gregory Esayan's forthcoming artist album on Arrival, we proudly present the single "Call Of Space" from the Russian producer. On remix duty is the rising duo Illuminor (Australia), who has remixed tracks by eleven.five and Vintage & Morelli on Silk in recent months.

The Original Mix begins with a tranquil soundscape, consisting of distant radio chatter and lush pad layers in the background. Soon, an inspiring breakbeat emerges, leading up to a blissful break. The song continues with a 4/4 beat thereafter, and subtle guitar lines form a unique atmosphere, accompanied by intriguing arpeggio synths. The remix from Illuminor quickly establishes a firm and well-structured rhythm, accompanied by groovy synths and energetic sound effects. A subtle piano line slowly builds in the background, leading up to the break. Here, the piano line is showcased fully, as well as lush string layers above. An energetic theme lead is introduced later, which perfectly blends into the lively soundscape.

American artist Dan Sieg joined Silk Royal in October 2012 with one of the most memorable opening statements in the history of our imprint: the emotive progressive trance anthem "Breaking The Illusion," released under his "Dan & Sam" moniker. Over the last few years, we have had the enormous privilege of witnessing Dan's remarkable evolution as an artist, from his uplifting and lyrically profound vocal hit "Walls" (feat. Maxx Hennard) to his deeper, more introspective remix of Toby Hedges' "Images." His journey has now reached a new plateau with the arrival of his debut artist album: "A Sense Of Wonder." The album features 10 brand new cuts, all of which display Dan's immense artistic range, as well as the sensitivity and depth of feeling that have imbued all of his work to date.

The listener's journey begins with "Iris," which fittingly opened our Silk Royal Showcase #250 live event in San Francisco. A hypnotic arpeggio and distorted background synth provide an unforgettable intro, which is soon followed by a clubby, up-tempo house groove. The title cut appears next, which centers on delicate arps, celestial synth stabs, and a techno-influenced bassline motif. The brooding and pensive "Gloom" initially paints a bleak existential picture, yet ultimately delivers a deeply moving (and hopeful) melodic theme. The fourth cut on the album, "Erko," treats fans to an infectious vocal line from Dan himself, while a progressive house groove and lush melody offer additional aural sustenance. The album's lead single, "No Way Back Up," arrives next and features the sensational Australian duo Illuminor, who have proven themselves to be a formidable threat in both the production and vocal arenas. A breakbeat rhythm eventually crescendoes into a stunning chorus by Michael Ware of Illuminor; the combination of Dan's innovative groove and Michael's poignant vocal performance is truly breathtaking.

The second half of the album begins with "Welcome To The Alley," a sun-kissed, festival-ready anthem in-the-making. The song's psychedelic bassline will tickle your brain and simultaneously compel you to dance. Next in line, "Grace" offers a club-friendly, cavernous bassline and an outer-worldly atmosphere. The subsequent cut, "Wispy," is a slow-burning, after-hours affair, with an equally evocative soundscape. The album's penultimate track, "Techbruary," represents Dan's foray into tech house; it is also reveals the lighthearted and humorous side of his personality. Finally, the trance-influenced "Horizons" brings the album to a glorious conclusion. The numerous melodic layers shine through the track like beams of light, radiating positivity, hope, and a sense of interconnectedness amongst all of us who rely on music to best illustrate the human experience.

Deepest azure oceans crossover into "Cerulean Sky"; shades of blue combine, blending together into a stratosphere that envelops the planet for "We Are All Astronauts". The soft beats and static crackle of radio frequencies sit atop lilting percussive cadence before emotive melodies resonate in pulsating synchronicity with low-end bass. Energy rises in imperceptible increments, pausing for piano to swim in deep space reverb before launching forwards once more in relentless glory.

Sunrise and Sunset form a delicious juxtaposition as the vibrancy and excitement of a new dawn gives way to the outward breath of day's end and sweet vocals swirl ahead, echoing themes of love. The earth's troposphere providing orange glow from above, hints at storms to come.

Dutch master, Nick Hogendoorn, charts a new trajectory. Deep house beats take on added urgency, repetitive structures hit rhythmic points and a collage of effects and sounds provide jet stream turbulence. Building to a subtle crescendo, stratified layers of sound combine to a homogeneous whole through technique and craftsmanship and sotto voce vocals are pitched down in subtle nuance reflecting the shimmering origins of a "Cerulean Sky".

Vapour trails are burned away in blazing sun to reveal a deep "Cerulean Sky" in all its iridescent glory.

Downwind:

Much less intense on the high end than Adjacent, but "Downwind"'s percussion 
certainly strikes harmony within the soul. A beautifully chilled track that

Last but not least, the final of our magnificent line up for the remix EP comes from Ukraine based wonder VIF, who is always upping the level of quality in any release he puts out. It's no different with this mind blowing rendition of the original, this time diverting from the more mellow sounds & reaching full on into that driving & energetic sound this talent is know for. Never lacking a unique twist; you hear the way the original is captured into a more cleaner & vibrant soundscape with the use of the lovely synth work that marks the signature sounds of his work. One that can definitely be used as a dance floor raiser; the sounds sweep through every crack & crevice highlighting the beauty of the layering used. The vocals are amped up to a more alluring twist with the electronic elements that capture the lighthearted side. Crisp & clear percussions enhance that fast paced feeling whilst letting the vocal do their magic with the haunting chops. What a way to finish this remix EP off, the closing palette that has followed with the rest, offering a nice variety for you all to enjoy. 

An EP that is tremendously appealing in every way possible, these artists have delivered something that cannot be replicated in such a manner. The thought, emotion & skill gone into each one can be heard through every second & nothing less was expected from this dynamic trio of producers. One such example is that of Adrian & Radek, a Polish duo better known on the scene as North Sunset, who've been amongst my favourites from early on. We proudly welcome Swedish producer Martin Zeidner to our balearic imprint. Zeidner draws upon inspiration from musical themes of the 80’s and 90’s, adding touches of synthwave to melodic-influenced progressive. We are excited to add these impressionable elements to the label. “Lime Island” was a place of nostalgia for Zeidner, where many fond memories were forged in his childhood. We are happy to commemorate them in this fantastic production.

Right from the outset, the tone of “Lime Island” is heavily laced with synthwave influences considering the choice of synth used to shape the soundscape, particularly the overlying lead. If the synth features don’t instantly hook the listener, the bass lines running beneath the liquidy surface certainly will. 

Finland’s veteran producer Allende debuts with a intrinsically beautiful remix that captures the essence of Lime Island, as it traverses between progressive rock, lounge-chill, and trance within an 8-minute span. Dick Dale-like surf guitar stems hang gracefully over a rock-like groove.

Gux Jimenez packs progressive tropical island grooves in his exotic summer rendition. Jimenez begins with a bouncy beat, upon which the island grooves manifest shortly thereafter, providing an exquisite hook. Amidst the breakdown, early morning marine layers peel away with each gentle stroke of the summer sun, clearing the path for a soothing progressive breeze.

Chinese talent Melchi continues to spearhead through the world of melodic progressive with his quality productions and we're excited to present his newest choon 'Follow the Sun', backed by two stunning remixes.
Borrowing from classic artists like Talamanca, the original is a pure sun-drenched melodic affair, imbued with memories of past summers that will perfectly evoke smiles and the freedom and joy associated with them.
First remix sees the return to Synth of Catalan superstar Lumidelic and as per usual, he delivers a jaw-dropping production of intricate synth lines backed by a myriad of sounds topped by a lovely melancholic piano melody. Maestro at his best.
Last but not least, it's with great pleasure we have Souma on our imprint, one of the breakthrough artists of the scene this year, whose laidback style will indelibly mark the listener as his remix is all centered on sound texture, making it a superb closer to an already stellar release.
