http://phasewaver.syntheway.net - Phasewaver is a phase distortion synthesizer with a vast array of composite waveshaping and amplitude modulation to generate a complex frequency spectrum. Essentially, the harmonic content of a carrier waveform dynamically change by influence of another modulator waveform, which can be used to create synth pads, keys, leads, basses, atmospheric textures, ambient soundscapes and sound effects.

Features:

Two phase distortion oscillators with 16 different single-cycle waveforms. The waveshapers combo boxes presents a double selectable wave shapes for each oscillator with 5 basic waveforms: sawtooth, square, pulse, double sine and sawtooth-pulse plus 3 resonant waveforms: resonance 1 (sawtooth), resonance 2 (triangle) and resonance 3 (trapezoid).

Waveform Envelope Generator and Amplitude Envelope Modulator for both phase distortion oscillators to control the audio signal passing through them, with independent control over each stage: attack, decay, sustain and release parameters.

Detune. The following parameters controls function as coarse and fine tuners by providing overall transposition and tuning of the oscillators (common for all oscillators and waveforms):
Octave. Selector to specify octaves above or below the current octave.
Note. Selector to switch between 0 to 11 semitones.
Fine. A fine-tuning.

Filter Section. A smooth state variable filter with the following parameters:
Filter Cutoff. Adjusts the frequency range to contour the sound, add or regulate brightness.
Filter Resonance. Slightly emphasize or suppress portions of the signal above or below the defined color/tone frequency.
Filter Mode. Switches the filter between low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, or band-rejection filter types, offering a simple and effective tone control to shape and color the sound source.
Filter Strength. Makes subtle changes to the filter character:
Stage 1: Tone is slightly attenuated. Provides a warmness tone.
Stage 2: Tone is slightly amplified. Something brighter in character.

Low-Frequency Oscillator. These parameters apply LFO modulation. By using the LFO to modulate various aspects of the audio signal, you can apply effects such as vibrato or tremolo.
LFO Rate: Controls gradual changes to the pitch of notes or the filter cutoff frequency.
LFO Depth: Controls the amplitude of the LFO. With a lower setting, the resulting modulation is subtle, while a higher depth will result in a much more extreme effect.

Reverb effect. A stereophonic ambience spread that brings a sense of spatial depth and width to sound, from small to huge sounding spaces.

Delay effect. Stores the input signal and plays it back after a certain amount of time, creating from a subtle echo to a pronounced blending of previous sounds with new sounds. Improves the stereo image by adding a slight delay to one of the channels. Parameters includes time, feedback and amount.

Flanger effect. Creates a mixing of two identical signals together, one signal delayed by a small and gradually changing period, causing a 'phase shift' between the two signals. The length of this pause is gradually varied over time resulting in a 'sweeping' stereo effect, delivering from subtle nuances to extreme jet engine taking off. Parameters includes rate, feedback and amount.

Drive PM. Provides a phase distortion extra modulation depth.

Mono control. Monophonic mode switch to turn the synth into monophonic mode.

Mono glide. The rate at which portamento slides the pitch between two notes, when playing in monophonic mode.

MIDI automation. Implementation of MIDI Continuous Controller parameters for use with external hardware control via DAW.

Four VCOs initiate the sound waveform and control its frequency. It also determines the initial timbre by the waveform option selected (sawtooth or square). * The Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, is a piece of organ music attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach. First published in 1833 through the efforts of Felix Mendelssohn, the piece quickly became popular, and is now one of the most famous works in the organ repertoire. The attribution of the piece to Bach, however, has been challenged since the 1970s by a number of scholars.
Attribution: Some of the earliest publications to raise the authorship question were articles by Walter Emery (1966) and Friedrich Blume (1965), and Roger Bullivant's book Fugue (1971). Ragtime music, much like the hoedown that preceded it, is a unique blend of European styles and African American harmonies and rhythms. Joplin - The King of Ragtime - developed his “rags” while working in minstrel shows, vaudeville and dance halls in Texarkana, Sedalia and St. Louis where he lived, worked and honed his craft. He spent his final years in New York City attempting to have his music accepted by the classical music establishment.
One of the classics of ragtime, it returned to top international prominence as part of the ragtime revival in the 1970s, when it was used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film The Sting by composer and pianist Marvin Hamlisch

* The William Tell Overture is the overture to the opera William Tell (original French title Guillaume Tell), whose music was composed by Gioachino Rossini.
The Finale, often called the "March of the Swiss Soldiers" in English, is in E major like the Prelude, but is an ultra-dynamic galop heralded by trumpets and played by the full orchestra. It alludes to the final act, which recounts the Swiss soldiers' victorious battle to liberate their homeland from Austrian repression. Although there are no horses or cavalry charges in the opera, this segment is often used in popular media to denote galloping horses, a race, or a hero riding to the rescue. Its most famous use in that respect is as the theme music for The Lone Ranger.
The Finale is also quoted by Dmitri Shostakovich in the first movement of his Symphony No. 15.

- LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) with modulation depth, frequency and offset. This creates a kind of a “trembling” sound for squeezebox instruments, harmonica and melodica.

- FULL MIDI Automation: Complete MIDI Continuous Controller. You can use this to automate parameter changes from a sequencer, or to control your synthesizers from an external MIDI control surface.

• Quick selector to switch between different preset sounds:


1 • Tack Piano (88 keys): A warm, classic altered version of ordinary upright piano (Stereophonic Sampling)
2 • Western Saloon Piano (88 keys): A versatile bright upright piano to evoke a Hollywood Western style (Stereophonic Sampling)
3 • Jangle Honky Tonk Piano (88 keys): A honky tonk piano with an unique and slightly detuned sound (Monophonic Sampling)

• ADSR envelope generator with Attack, Sustain, Decay and Release parameters:
  • Attack determines the time it takes for the note to get to the maximum level.
  • Decay determines the time it takes for the note to go from the maximum level to the sustain level (controlled by Sustain).
  • Sustain determines level the sound is played at while the note is held (after the other envelope states, Attack and Decay, have been completed).
  • Release determines the time it takes for the note to fall from the sustain level to zero (silence) level when it is released.

• Pitch Bend: The Pitch Bend knob directly changes the pitch of the selected instrument.
  • Pitch Bend center position: is normal pitch.
  • Pitch Bend down: Specifies the amount of pitch change that will occur when the pitch bend/modulation lever is moved to the left.
  • Pitch Bend up: Specifies the amount of pitch change that will occur when the pitch bend/modulation lever is moved the right.

• Reverb built-in: provides a spaciousness and depth to simulate the sound reflections from walls, floors and ceilings following a sound created in an acoustically reflective environment. Small rooms can be modeled as well as large spaces.

• Filter Type. Combo box to switch between the following options:
  • Low Pass (LPF): a filter that passes signals with a frequency lower than a certain cutoff frequency and attenuates signals with frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency.
  • High Pass (HPF): a filter that passes signals with a frequency higher than a certain cutoff frequency and attenuates signals with frequencies lower than the cutoff frequency.
  • None: No filter is applied. 
  • Cutoff Frequency Filter: Sets the cutoff frequency for the low pass and high pass filters.

• Volume: Adjusts the volume of the instrument.

• Panning potentiometer control: Set the panning of the instrument. Adjusts the stereo pan position of the signal output, which determines how much of signal is sent to the left and right channels.

Features

• Step On/Off button toggle. Activate or deactivate the step with LED indicator lights per step to display the active beat.

• Time Division. Allows to set the tempo by switching between six factor / rhythmic values applied to clock source and valid for the sequence.

• Pitch sliders. Pitch shifting allows to raise or lower the original pitch of each step individually.

• Step Loop. Sequence length is selectable between four, six or eight looped steps.

• Waveform Type. Modulates the signal by changing different wave shapes: sine, saw, ramp, triangle and pulse plus white or pink noise.

• Waveform Shaper. Flexible spline-based graph that changes the output signal by applying a shaping function to the input signal. Contains stereo modulators for left and right channels that can be used as a soft clipper, waveform modifier or subtle distortion unit, which maps input to output values depending on a transfer function drawn by dragging the control points via mouse.

• Gate. Modulates the release time of the envelope. Turn it clockwise to increase the signal or counterclockwise to decrease it.

• Filter Type. Switches the filter between low-pass, high-pass, band-pass or band-rejection filter types, offering a simple and effective tone control to shape and color the sound.

• Filter Strength. Makes subtle changes to the filter character:
  •  Stage 1: Tone is slightly attenuated. Provides a warmness tone.
  •  Stage 2: Tone is slightly amplified. Something brighter in character.

• Filter Resonance. Emphasizes the harmonics around the cutoff frequency by changing the basic waveform and therefore the timbre of the sound. Turning clockwise will make the filter sound more pronounced, sharpening and ringing.

• Delay Time. Controls the delay time. By turning the knob clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease the time.

• Delay Feedback. Regeneration of delay. By increasing the amount of signal sent back through (or fed back, or regenerated) the number of repeats is increased. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the rate or counterclockwise to decrease the regeneration.

• Ambience Spread. Stereo reverb that brings a sense of spatial depth and width to sound, from small to huge sounding spaces.

• MIDI Automation. Implementation of MIDI Continuous Controller parameters for use with external hardware control via DAW.

• Spatial Auralization. Brings a stereophonic sound panning to increase the audible perspective.

• Hint Property. Tooltip when the mouse is over a control.

• Preset Manager. Built-in browser to load and save presets and banks.

• Preset Name Display. A text box to display the active preset name.

• 32 built-in presets as a starting point. Ability to create customized ones with a flexible control options for rhythm creation.
