We are equally stoked that he made us this blinder of a mix! It's a fond romp through some of his fav electrofunk, disco sleaze, dub, new wave, early Jack, dance punk -aka: bangers on bangers mate.

It's been a while since we posted a mix . we hope that you are all holding up good despite the difficult times we find ourselves in . in our quest to highlight djs we love outside of the  usual hyped up circles , we are pleased to share a mix by Cape town born and bred dj , Slow Motion City aka Phillip Blignaut whom we have had a pleasure of inviting to come and play @ Lakuti's & Tama Sumo's ' Your Love ' event in Cape Town this past  January . Slow Motion City's background in electronic music is much like his demeanour ... understated. He has experienced and learnt a unique sensibility and awareness of the dance-floor, a space for movement and human connection. 

As part of both hEAR and NTSC. Slow Motion City’s sound is undoubtedly broad and infectious. 

In 2019 he also contributed a track with Luis 93 to the newly launched local label City Bowl Wax Network Compilation 01 alongside Zanasi WiFi, Terrence Pearce and Tim Hastie. 

Slow Motion City aka Phillip Blignaut has built a reputation as a great and , versatile dj ,moving between intimate gatherings, club nights and festivals with appearances at Champagne, Private Life, Search 2017/18, Tama Sumo & Lakutis Your Love, Not Sorry Club, Killer Robot, Waxon, Atom, Future Frequency Festival, Wolfkop Weekender, Smalltown Beat and CTEMF 2018 ( Cape Town Electronic Music Festival )  and various other established Cape Town events.

"This mix was recorded on the first cold Sunday after summer in London with a pair of turntables and an E&S mixer and consists of a vinyl only selection, with quite a few records that I grew up with in the 80s and early 90s, also a few records that I only became aware of in the past decade.  
It’s a slow groove, that I find it perfect to chill to or grooving and cooking on a Sunday afternoon. Although some of these records were strictly played in the dance back in the day. They still have a place with the early morning dancers today and remain special to me." - Red Greg
