Born and raised in London, Daniel Lyseight, now known as Danlys 8, grew up surrounded by a rich tapestry of musical influences. From an early age, he was drawn to the vibrant sounds of the city, immersing himself in a diverse range of genres. The multicultural environment of London played a pivotal role in shaping his musical identity, exposing him to everything from the gritty beats of Hip Hop to the pulsating rhythms of Drum and Bass.
As a young boy, Daniel’s fascination with music was evident. He would spend hours listening to records, dissecting the intricate layers of sound, and dreaming of one day creating his own. His passion for music was not just a hobby; it was a calling that would eventually lead him to become Danlys 8, a DJ known for his eclectic taste and innovative approach.

System2 were born out of a desire to produce & perform music that meant something to its creators. Our love for vinyl has led us to a new chapter, and we aim to bring something just left of centre to the industry, with our very own label behind us from the start.

We are a duo from Manchester & up until now have kept our identities on the down-low after having previously worked our way up the industry ladder under a former alias. In the past, we’ve worked for labels such as Cécille Records, Get Physical Music, PIAS and Nervous amongst others, so we’re no strangers to the house scene.

Growing up in Manchester really cemented our love for house music at an early age, as it’s what we heard when we first started going out clubbing. Manchester is a place synonymous with house music from the Hacienda days, not to mention other places like The Hangar, Holy City Zoo, North, The Old Monk and of course Sankeys. 

We started running events around 2004, and within a few years we were residents at Sankeys. The city has always been a great base for our music, and a huge influence on our style.

We started producing back in 2002, doing courses at MIDI school and SSR to widen our knowledge of software and hardware alike. From setting up a basic home studio and hours of trial-and-error, over the course of the last 12 years we've been on a massive journey with our music. Experience means a lot, and nowadays you're getting some producers who are amazing but aren’t really cut out to play in clubs. There's a lot more to it than making good music then turning up at a gig and playing with your head down all night.

Everyone wants to be a DJ these days, and to those who are so inclined, you can simple get a laptop and Ableton, and proceed to sync your way through a set now. We learned on vinyl and still swear by it to this day when we play, although obviously we've moved-on with the times to an extent, using USB in the majority of our sets.

Our sound isn't pigeon-holed under any particular genre. Too many sub genres knocking around these days but we'd say house and techno! We love playing a lot of our own music in our sets, and it really does get some of the biggest reactions during our sets. It's amazing to be getting support on our new work from the likes of Steve Lawler, Dan Ghenacia, Shonky, Djebali, John Dimas, Richy Ahmed, Jamie Jones, Shaun Reeves & so many more!

Now we have signed up with VIVa MUSiC & their management, the future is looking bright for us as we look to cement our brand & name into the ever so competitive dj circuit!

➖Intro
When lockdown came into place I as many began missing the raves I once knew, one of my friends began dj-ing and I thought maybe I’ll give it a try! I then bought my first set of decks SB3’ and began to enjoy dj-ing myself through those long days and nights I progressed my style into predominantly House, Tech house and Disco. I later bought my second set of decks, Pioneer XZ’ which I still use to this day!

➖Where have I played?
Having played at Bars and Clubs across the UK and even making it to Kavos I now play at multiple venues! 
Some including the great Astoria Nightclub Portsmouth where I had my first gig, around 400 people came as it was for a Launch Party for the Ski Society and eventhough being very nervous beforehand it went perfect! I have played at lots of other venues during my time dj-ing including Moonshine Bar Portsmouth, Curiosity Bar Atherton, The Plaza Atherton, Golden Bee rooftop Bar- Shoreditch London, The Peacock Liverpool, The Lawn Club Manchester, The Box Manchester, Zaranda Bar Didsbury, The Bierkeller Manchester, Seven Brothers Manchester. The last two summers I have played in Kavos, Corfu (Greece) at different bars and nightclubs including Pulse Bar, Island Beach, Maddisons, and Venue Nightclub. 

➖Events 
I am working on more of my own events soon, my first event I organised was a night at The Yellow Sub in Liverpool.

➖Influences!
I have many influences in the music industry, one of my favourite artists is Michael Bibi, I love what he has achieved and done with Solid Grooves and how he has associated with different artists to showcase his style and form a family with different artists across the world within Solid Grooves. I love his sound and style and he really inspires me having been to his events! Another favourite artist for me is Armand Van Helden, I love the way he uses samples from previous tracks and gives them a modern twist. Some of my favourite songs include My My My, Wings, Anyway, and You don’t even know me which always get the party going! Some of my other influences are The Brothers Macklovitch ( Also part of A Trak and Chromeo I enjoy watching their sets. Another one of my favourite DJ’s is Joseph Capriati, I love how he uses effects to loop songs before the drops. 

➖What’s next! 
Now progressing to the future I am hoping to travel more and more and expand my DJ career further building my own events brand, playing at different unexpected venues for large crowds and producing my own tracks! I also have lots of ideas for remix’ so keep an eye out! I am working on my own upcoming event which is taking place in may and I am really excited for it!
