Nick Curly celebrates the 50th release on his imprint with label partner Marc Scholl. Together, they present Nick Curly’s Altrip EP, featuring a guest remix by Manda Moor.
The EP commences with the title track 'Altrip,' where robust sub-bass melds seamlessly with vigorous drum programming. Following suit, 'It's You And Me' maintains the same potent energy, featuring cascading note arpeggios and intricate percussive elements that traverse the mix. Manda Moor's 'Burning Remix' of 'Altrip' injects her high-octane sonic signature into the original, employing rave-inspired stabs, panning drums, and sliced vocal samples.
As the year '23 enters its final quarter, Cécille Records is set to reinvigorate its event series in collaboration with Peoples Agency. Two official dates stand as markers of this revival. Alongside Nick Curly, an array of artists including Sidney Charles, Manda Moor, Fabe, Leon, De La Swing, Dennis Quin, Timmy P, Reboot and more are poised to join the festivities.

Like every end of the year we present our new installment of the Rebirth Essentials collection, including our best releases of the last 12 months plus some unreleased material.

Coming from Rotterdam, Arp Frique’s music is original and made with live instruments. “Shangaan Time” is exotic with a touch of psychedelic weirdness. Raffaele ‘Whodamanny’ Arcella slows it building a cosmic disco groove on a funky bass line.
Taken from his debut album, “City” by ILO is a journey through his musical soundscapes: warm sounds vibrating beats, deep synth tones and old-school house mash-ups.  
“A Mente Delira” is a collaborative project between the italian producer Ayala and post punk Brazilian Vocalist Abrão, perfectly remixed by Musumeci. An hypnotic and psychedelic song that was big last summer, anticipating their debut album in 2024.
The ukranian producer Komilev debuts on Rebirth with the amazing vocal cut “Real Life”, while Kadosh, one of the best names to come out of the Tel Aviv scene, unleashes the strong track  “Love Triangle”.
Corrado Bucci’s homage to the “Yushan Hu” Lake is a track where the peaceful  atmosphere collides with a punchy sound.

The collection include also unreleased material from Shield & Robytek, Yotam Avni & Tuccillo, Marc Gonen, Mata Jones & Mikey V and Morris T.

Making his debut on Libero, Oxford-based Gibraltarian producer, Jezen. Following on from an impressive stream of releases, ‘The Things You Know’ EP delivers an exceptional combination of original club cuts, both tracks already played by Marco Carola, Loco Dice and more - supplemented by a remix from Leicestershire talents, Murphy’s Law.

‘Like You Should’ takes the shape of a late-night mood setter. A quintessential Music On-esque number - often a treat for the earlier dancefloor descendants - comprising a potent mixture of percussive factors, punchy kicks, and crisp rhythms. Throwing a pinch of the early 2010s deep house flavour in with its bassline and synth melodies; a steady groover that leaves a lasting effect.

‘The Things You Know’ turns the momentum up slightly, adding more roll and shuffle into the mix. Crammed with atmospheric scenes and injections of cadent flair. Continuing the fashion of strong, reminiscent melodic undertones, yet another standout track with indisputable impact.

Completing the triple threat, Murphy’s Law remix of the title track injects yet another layer of energy into the release. A robust adaptation of ‘The Things You Know’ with a constant, blistering low end and raw harmonics offer a gritty alternative to an already definitive piece of music. With hints of UK Tech character dotted throughout, the increasingly-popular duo rounds off the release nicely.

System2 were born out of a desire to produce & perform music that meant something to its creators. Our love for vinyl has led us to a new chapter, and we aim to bring something just left of centre to the industry, with our very own label behind us from the start.

We are a duo from Manchester & up until now have kept our identities on the down-low after having previously worked our way up the industry ladder under a former alias. In the past, we’ve worked for labels such as Cécille Records, Get Physical Music, PIAS and Nervous amongst others, so we’re no strangers to the house scene.

Growing up in Manchester really cemented our love for house music at an early age, as it’s what we heard when we first started going out clubbing. Manchester is a place synonymous with house music from the Hacienda days, not to mention other places like The Hangar, Holy City Zoo, North, The Old Monk and of course Sankeys. 

We started running events around 2004, and within a few years we were residents at Sankeys. The city has always been a great base for our music, and a huge influence on our style.

We started producing back in 2002, doing courses at MIDI school and SSR to widen our knowledge of software and hardware alike. From setting up a basic home studio and hours of trial-and-error, over the course of the last 12 years we've been on a massive journey with our music. Experience means a lot, and nowadays you're getting some producers who are amazing but aren’t really cut out to play in clubs. There's a lot more to it than making good music then turning up at a gig and playing with your head down all night.

Everyone wants to be a DJ these days, and to those who are so inclined, you can simple get a laptop and Ableton, and proceed to sync your way through a set now. We learned on vinyl and still swear by it to this day when we play, although obviously we've moved-on with the times to an extent, using USB in the majority of our sets.

Our sound isn't pigeon-holed under any particular genre. Too many sub genres knocking around these days but we'd say house and techno! We love playing a lot of our own music in our sets, and it really does get some of the biggest reactions during our sets. It's amazing to be getting support on our new work from the likes of Steve Lawler, Dan Ghenacia, Shonky, Djebali, John Dimas, Richy Ahmed, Jamie Jones, Shaun Reeves & so many more!

Now we have signed up with VIVa MUSiC & their management, the future is looking bright for us as we look to cement our brand & name into the ever so competitive dj circuit!
