As Warriors celebrates its fifth season at Sankeys Ibiza, residents Mark Jenkyns and Leftwing & Kody mix a double album composed of entirely exclusive tracks.

Returning to Sundays at the Playa D’en Bossa club, the party series recently announced their summer lineups spanning the likes of Groove Armada, Hot Since 82, Eats Everything, Skream, Huxley and VIVa founder Steve Lawler. Throughout the 2016 season residents Mark Jenkyns and Leftwing & Kody will be regular fixtures at the events, which is why VIVa have tapped them up to craft two mixes exemplary of Warriors’ distinct musical aesthetic.

Turning heads ever since his debut on Hot Creations four years ago, Mark Jenkyns has since followed up with appearances on Rinse, Dogmatik, Leftroom, Resonance and Crosstown Rebels, not to mention collaborating with Inxec as 12 Stories with a release on VIVa MUSiC last year. Meanwhile, Leftwing & Kody have been making waves since emerging in 2012, releasing on the likes of Knee Deep In Sound, Hot Creations and MadTech when not pioneering their own Lost Records imprint.

Jenkyns’ mix initiates with a percussive production from Leftroom founder Matt Tolfrey before erupting into lively material from names such as Resonance Records founder Max Chapman, Kreature and Tom Budden until a crunchy cut from Josh Butler concludes proceedings. Meanwhile, Leftwing & Kody’s tracklist sees the likes of Jey Kurmis, Solid Grooves founder Michael Bibi, Hauswerks & Anek, Cera Alba and ONNO, not to mention fast-rising newcomers Solardo.

Production duo Mark Richards & James Eliot aka Solardo are the next to make their mark on Hot Creations with ‘Tribesmen’, delivering two heavy-duty cuts destined to stir serious heat in the club.

Already doing the rounds worldwide at the hands of some of the biggest names in the business, ‘Tribesmen’ and ‘Psycho Girlfriend’ are built straight for the dancefloor around dense and heavy basslines, punchy percussion and prominent vocal slices.

Hailing from Manchester, Solardo are continuing the city’s rich heritage in house music whilst carving out their own sound in the house and techno scene with releases on Madtech, MTA Records and more recently Of Unsound Mind. Their string of successful releases has gained them an army of fans across the board from Jamie Jones to Jackmaster. The pair also run a weekly radio show on Rinse FM and are residents of the well known Kaluki party as well as running their own successful event series, Solardo Sessions.

Pleasurekraft have made waves in recent years with their calculated transition from tech house powerhouses into purveyors of cosmic techno. The duo’s new sonic character has solidified in 2017 with releases like “Rigel” and the Maskara EP, but has taken a new degree of prominence in the last month. Currently, Pleasurekraft’s nefarious “7 Year Itch Rework” of their seminal hit, “Tarantula,” resides in the top spot of Beatport’s overall chart – assuming the honor which its original predecessor did upon its release seven years ago.

The duo now endeavors continue their trajectory into techno’s astral realm with the release their first Kraftek compilation of 2017, Monolith Series Vol. 1. Pleasurekraft lead the compilation with their own original production, “Bellatrix,” a haunting, cerebral take on techno which vacillates between beguilingly uplifting synthesis and sinister bass patterns.

Taking its name from the third brightest star of the Orion constellation, “Bellatrix” acts in many ways as a foil to “Rigel” – indeed, Orion’s brightest star is an eponym to Pleasurekraft’s January release. Where “Rigel” is majestically overpowering in its mystification, straightforward nature of “Bellatrix” renders its abstruse elements innately approachable in the club context. With this newest cosmic release, one wonders if the luminous Betelgeuse looms on the duo’s horizon, waiting to complete their constellatory homage.

British DJ-producer Michael Bibi drops two moody cuts on Criminal Hype this June, featuring a remix by Huxley.
Michael Bibi has cemented himself a solid reputation over the years. As well as releasing on his own label Solid Grooves, Michael has recently had a string of successful releases on labels such as VIVa MUSiC and Lost Records, whilst as a DJ he’s made appearances across London, Ibiza, Berlin, Geneva and Amsterdam. System2 were born out of a desire to produce & perform music that meant something to its creators. Our love for vinyl has led us to a new chapter, and we aim to bring something just left of centre to the industry, with our very own label behind us from the start.

We are a duo from Manchester & up until now have kept our identities on the down-low after having previously worked our way up the industry ladder under a former alias. In the past, we’ve worked for labels such as Cécille Records, Get Physical Music, PIAS and Nervous amongst others, so we’re no strangers to the house scene.

Growing up in Manchester really cemented our love for house music at an early age, as it’s what we heard when we first started going out clubbing. Manchester is a place synonymous with house music from the Hacienda days, not to mention other places like The Hangar, Holy City Zoo, North, The Old Monk and of course Sankeys. 

We started running events around 2004, and within a few years we were residents at Sankeys. The city has always been a great base for our music, and a huge influence on our style.

We started producing back in 2002, doing courses at MIDI school and SSR to widen our knowledge of software and hardware alike. From setting up a basic home studio and hours of trial-and-error, over the course of the last 12 years we've been on a massive journey with our music. Experience means a lot, and nowadays you're getting some producers who are amazing but aren’t really cut out to play in clubs. There's a lot more to it than making good music then turning up at a gig and playing with your head down all night.

Everyone wants to be a DJ these days, and to those who are so inclined, you can simple get a laptop and Ableton, and proceed to sync your way through a set now. We learned on vinyl and still swear by it to this day when we play, although obviously we've moved-on with the times to an extent, using USB in the majority of our sets.

Our sound isn't pigeon-holed under any particular genre. Too many sub genres knocking around these days but we'd say house and techno! We love playing a lot of our own music in our sets, and it really does get some of the biggest reactions during our sets. It's amazing to be getting support on our new work from the likes of Steve Lawler, Dan Ghenacia, Shonky, Djebali, John Dimas, Richy Ahmed, Jamie Jones, Shaun Reeves & so many more!

Now we have signed up with VIVa MUSiC & their management, the future is looking bright for us as we look to cement our brand & name into the ever so competitive dj circuit!
